This car is not only fast but it is also 95% recyclable or biodegradable; best of both worlds. You can throw Eco One into the compost heap and the only thing that will be left is the chasis. The chasis can be recycled, because it is made of steel and aluminum.

Who made this car? It was out together by boffins at a Warwick research center. The project manager Ben Wood said that he wanted to make a racing car rather than the usual slow eco-vehicles that run on chip fat. The company’s goal when they started to develop the idea back in November; is to cross the eco-technology boundaries.

The main goal of this project was to teach the school children across the country about bio-energy.

The Eco One cost around £20,000 to make. The outer shell is made of crushed up hemp and rapeseed resin. The tires are made of potatoes, and the brakes are made from a mixture of natural powders and fibers mashed together.

It’s pretty interesting how they made the tires out of potatoes, and brakes out of power. Don’t they break when you brake? The shell doesn’t even look like it is made of crushed anything; it looks like a plastic shell we see on most race cars. It’s cool to see what determined minds could come up with.
