The Ford S-Max. European Car of the Year 2007.

It was a close finish, but in the end The Ford S-MAX was declared the winner of the European Car of the Year 2007, by just two points over the Opel Corsa, in a competition in which 41 contenders for the award were reduced to a short list of eight. The final places were as follows, Ford S-MAX (first), Opel Corsa (second), Citroën C4 Picasso (third), Skoda Roomster (fourth), Honda Civic (fifth), Peugeot 207 (sixth), Volvo C30 (seventh) and Fiat Grande Punto (eighth). The voting was made by a panel of senior motoring journalists from across Europe. The organisation behind the European Car of the Year awards is a committee made up by the owners of top European magazines.

The new Ford S-Max is a new concept called a multi activity vehicle (MAV) and is firmly placed in size between the mondeo and galaxy models, creating a whole new market place for themselves as there are those who feel that the galaxy is too large and the mondeo too small, this is a clever inclusion into the Ford range of cars and as the S-Max will be built in Belgium, the Ford history continues there like it has done since the 1960's.
