The worlds fastest drop top is the 9ff-Porsche 997/911 Carrera 2 3.6 Biturbo Cabrio.

When this car first arrived on the scene there was a flow of testosterone fuelled guys queuing up to buy the 200+ mph, the shape of the 911 is a familiar sight to us all on the roads, and even though the there have been many mechanical upgrades and even some cosmetic changes, yet the 911 is still recognisable as the good old Porsche 911, the curvy voluptuous shape of the bodywork is still there and still has the appeal to sons as it did have for their fathers before them.

In Germany the an auto related magazine recently sponsored a high speed event, the 9ff-Porsche 997/911 Carrera 2 3.6 Biturbo Cabrio set off on several laps of the race track and managed to set a top speed of 380.5 kilometres per hour, which gives it the world record for fastest speed reached by a drop top car, however the drop top for the test was actually still in place on the car! Does that still count!

It is not a real surprise that the 9ff-Porsche 997/911 Carrera 2 3.6 Biturbo Cabrio is a record holder, after all it can do 0 mph to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and has an estimated 900 brake horse power at its disposal.
