Posted on by 15

Everybody knows that Detroit has always been the Automobile hub of the United States. So, it’s no surprise that the 2013 Detroit Auto Show is an important platform to show-off brand new models.

Regarded as the first major auto show to kick off the New Year, the Detroit Motor Show brought tons surprises and drool-inducing releases as compared to disappointments. Most car manufacturers have shown off their new models that aim to broaden their lineup and strengthen their respective images, a goal shared amongst all automakers.

Though there were many new models that launched in Detroit, which made it one of the most anticipated and exciting auto shows, if we were to point out the one car that really made not just us but nearly every auto enthusiast impatient, it would be the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray . Being the home turf of the ’Vette, it was befitting for Chevy to debut the seventh generation of the successful Corvette at Detroit.

Click past the jump to check out the top four debuts that have impressed us greatly, making the Detroit Auto Show worth the wait.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

Unless you were living under a rock, everybody anticipated the launch of the beast in its seventh generation. Bringing a host of new changes and upgrades, Chevrolet Chevrolet ’s main goal was to redefine and revolutionize the drive and feel of their halo supercar, without completely redefining the car.

With an all-new 6.2-liter LS1 V-8 that pumps an estimated 450 horsepower and an all-new aluminum chassis with a few carbon-fiber elements, it’s safe to say that it’s the most powerful and fastest standard Corvette till date. With a head-turning and aggressive new design, it sure shouts "Power" to all the competitors it zooms by.

So far, Chevy hasn’t released any info on the price but it’s slated to arrive at your nearest showroom in the third quarter of 2013. So far, we think that it’s worth the wait, given the host of changes that is bound to send chills down the spines of its European counterparts.

Audi RS7

Top 5 Debuts at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show

In short, the 2014 Audi RS7 is like a “bull poked with a stick.” Aiming to infuse motorsport-inspired performance in a sexy package, the RS7 is what the businessmen buy if they have a habit of getting late for work. This is what Audi’s RS lineup has always been about...

Powered by a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that delivers a total of 560 horsepower, the RS7 rockets you from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. This is the car for people seeking power-packed performance delicately balanced with superior comfort and technology. With the sound of the V-8 blaring from those larger-than-life dual tailpipes, there’s hardly any use for the Bang & Olufsen audio setup.

A nice example of "a full-fledged Body-builder donning an Armani suit,” the 2014 Audi RS7 is bound to turn heads, if not for power then its looks.

Mercedes-Benz CLA

Mercedes CLA-Class

As a model intended to highlights Mercedes’ strategy to grab a higher market share, the CLA Class was one of the highly anticipated Mercedes since its inception as the CLC Concept.

Nicknamed the "Baby CLS," it brings the sexiness and style that made the CLS famous in a less-expensive and smaller package. Mercedes Mercedes believes that this aspect will turn heads in the youth market — an emerging market for the auto industry.

2014 Lexus IS

The Lexus IS is one of those very few cars that still looks like a concept, even in its production guise. With the bold creases and cuts along the body, not to mention the spindle-like large grille, the Lexus IS is a car that you just can’t stop looking at, even if you hate it.

The 2014 Lexus IS is a car that finally injects some fear into its German competitors, as it brings supreme quality in a very sporty package. To boot, the IS even has a little power and a soundtrack, in the form of a well-tuned exhaust system, to accompany that power. The Lexus IS is the sort of car that people would enjoy driving rather than basking at the luxury and silence like its brothers.

Cadillac ELR

Top 5 Debuts at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show

Set to add the word “premium” to its list of environment friendly credentials, the eco-friendly — not a byword for a Caddy — Cadillac ELR is set to take on the alternative-fuel niche market, leaving a smaller carbon footprint behind.

With the sleek and straight lines that define most Cadillacs of today, it’s safe to say that this is one of the sexiest extended-range EVs that will grace the market in the near future. And with a modified powertrain from the Chevrolet Volt Chevrolet Volt that gives an estimate of around 56.6 mpg, you’re doing the environment a favor while rolling in style.
