Top Gear shows us why there aren't three wheeled cars driving around

Posted on by 22

As was pointed out earlier, Top Gear is back on the air in the UK. While BBC America is a bit slow to show us the new episodes, we have torrents to keep us up to date.

In the first episode of the season, we saw a Bentley Continental Supersports and the new reasonably priced car, a Kia Cee’d . Yet, that wasn’t the best bit. What really capped the episode off was some Jeremy Clarkson stupidity.

Clarkson decided to find out why there aren’t more three-wheeled cars in the world. He set out on a 14-mile journey that was shown to us on a map of Europe in the beginning of the clip. The car he selected to drive was the good old Reliant Robin, the same type of car that was used to build the space shuttle a few years back.

You’ll have to watch the video below to find out what happens, but it was quite amusing. Sorry about the poor video quality, but that’s life on YouTube.

Seriously, why should you have to drive a three wheeled car? I’ve been wondering how the car can accommodate the passengers with such kind of weird design.

this car gives me a feat, I cant help but laugh by just seeing the picture and not reading the article. How can you balance this if 2 passengers where on the front seat?

The video has been removed. But It’s cool to ride on it.

Yeah, I agree..Four door concept is much better..lol!

Poor Reliant. How do you classify that vehicle?

Where’s Bean?... Lol, I always remember mr.Bean when ever I see a Reliant.

When I first saw the car..i can’t sop laughing..what a great joke if the car has a three wheel. And beside there would be a problem with the balance if that happens.

There is a pizza place in Minneapolis, MN called Galactic Pizza. Their delivery cars are the electric 3-wheeled cars Zap Xebra with the solar panel option. Every time I see them driving around and making a turn, I’m waiting for them to tip over. But they don’t. Of course they don’t drive them very fast.

3 wheels are very hard to balance specially when turning fast. you might roll over to the gutter..just what like what happened to the MR bean the movie.

He’s great- He’s the reason why TG USA will never be as good as TG Britain, but I’ll watch it anyway. Falling short of that mark will still make it better than 99% of what’s out there.

If you lean OUT FROM the turn on a three-wheeler, I’m sure it’s very easy... Tho if they were carrying any cargo ballast on the driver side, that’s tantamount to cheating the tip.

Brilliant smiley
