Last night, we published an nice overview of the production models at the Paris Motor Show for the first day. Hard to believe the unveilings are about over, but it was one heck of a day to say the least.

It was hard not to love most of the vehicles that were shown at the motor show, as most where stunningly gorgeous, powered by decent motors and some will be extremely rare. Take for instance the Ferrari SA APERTA. Only 80 of these machines will be made and the lucky people who purchase them will get a fantastic front-mounted V12.

We also had the new Peugeot 508, a French made sedan that will take the place of the average in nearly every way, 407. The exterior design is stunning and the interior is wonderfully laid out. We're not sure how well it will be built, but Peugeot's been getting better as of late, as we'll just have to wait and see.

Concepts on the hand, don't have any of these flaws. It doesn't matter how well there built or how many will be made, because, none will be. That's why we love them. Automakers get to design unique machines that might be on our roads in the future. Show cars are vehicles that will be made, but not exactly the way the appear at the moment.

Hit the jump to see them,

Lotus Elite Concept:

We all know by now that Lotus will be attempting to move up market and the Elite is one of their first models that use this new way of thinking. Gone are the days of lightweight, as this new model is four-doors, carries a retractable hardtop roof and weights in at 3,600 pounds.

Under the hood is one of the greatest motors of our age, the 5.0-liter V8 from the Lexus IS-F. Lotus has upped the power to 611 horses and the top speed has been raised to 195 miles per hour. The car will also come with the KERS system.

We won’t be seeing this thing for quite some time, four years in fact and it will cost around $180,000. Will this new way of thinking help or hurt Lotus? Only time will tell.

Lotus Elan Concept:

The second of the five concepts from Lotus is the new Elan. The new car should be on sale around 2013 and will cost $118,500.

Toyota has once again supplied the power, with a 4.0-liter V6 that puts out 450 horsepower. Stomp on the gas and you can hit 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 193 mph. The KERS system will also be used.

Inside there are plenty of carbon fiber and high-tech toys. The steering wheel uses the same flat bottom look as in sports Audi models. The car will weight in at 2,849 pounds.

Lotus Eterne:

Here is number three of the company’s concept showcase and this one is quite a machine. Lotus will be using an optional hybrid motor, along with the KERS system. Powering the car will be a 620 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 from - you guessed it - Toyota. That power will help the car hit 60 miles per hour in just four seconds.

We should see the Eterne around 2014 with a price tag of $190,000.

Lotus Elise:

This sure isn’t your father’s Elise. Powering the car will be a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 320 horsepower. Transmissions include a six-speed manual or an optional automatic with paddle shifters. Combine all that and you can hit 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds.

This is clearly not the cheap and light Elise of the past, but once the car goes on sale in 2015, Lotus says that there will be less expensive versions made. We’ll see about that. There will be a soft-top version available as well.

Lotus has clearly taken the effort to improve the overall appeal of the car, as entry and exit is longer a chore. The interior is wonderful with F1-style progressive shift lights. The exterior is different, but we’ll wait five years to see how well we like it then.

Lotus Esprit:

The fifth and final Lotus concept is the wonderfully gorgeous Esprit. The car should be around by 2013 and it will feature a 620 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 from the IS-F. That will help the car reach its top speed of 205 mph. Not to mention you can hit 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.

Like mostly all of the Lotus concepts, this one will feature the KERS system and it will cost $175,000.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept:

The newest Lamborghini that will grace the stage will one hell of a machine. The exterior by itself is out of this world and while we aren’t quite sure if we like it, you have to admit it is stunning.

The new car will weight in at just 2,202 pounds, thanks to plenty of carbon fiber and its lightweight wheels, frame and body panels. Powering the car will be a V10 that cranks out 570 horsepower. Those math majors should be able to work out that the Lamborghini has a just 3.86 pounds per horsepower. That will help the car hit 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds.

The interior is very interesting, but as is the way with these concepts, we have to wonder if it will ever be made.

Peugeot HR1 Concept:

The French automotive company has had a few nice machines shown in Paris. The 508 sedan is stunning and this HR1 is pretty neat as well. The car gets a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder motor with a 37 horsepower electric motor at the rear of the vehicle. The system is a through-the-road hybrid, meaning that the two motors work independently from one another.

The HR1 will use a six-speed automatic transmission and it should be able to deliver 67 miles per gallon. There are no plans to make this machine.

Nissan Townpod EV:

From first glimpse, the new EV from Nissan appears to be the Cube with the face of one of the car based cartoon movie vehicles. It is suppose to bridge the gap between personal and commercial vehicles, but we think it will just scare away buyers.

The face of the car is interesting to say the least and the headlights feature “blue pedals” that can change position. The interior is very flexible and can accommodate people and stuff of any kind.

Nissan claim that this machine is an EV, but they never explained how it works. We don’t expect them to make this, although they did built the Juke and possibly even the Murano Cabriolet, so one never knows.

Jaguar C-X75 Concept:

Jaguar is being an all-new electric vehicle to the Paris Motor Show and it seems they have high hopes for the C-X75 Concept.

The new car tips the scales at around 2,970-pounds and is able to hit 62 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds. That seems awfully fast for a vehicle with only two 96-horsepower micro gas turbines that force fuel into a plug-in li-ion battery back. Once all that is said on done, there are four electric motors cranking out 195 horsepower each. Stomp the pedal to the floor and you can hit 205 miles per hour.

The C-X75 can travel up to 68 miles on its battery pack alone, but once the turbines kick in the car can continue traveling for 560 miles. Chevrolet Volt, eat your heart out.

To keep the weight down, the body is made from aluminum and the interior is covered in leather. The seats, unlike most cars, are fixed, but the pedals and instruments move. There are three TFT screens that provide the driver with information. Basically, all the normal concept car goodies are here, which is a good thing because Jaguar has no plans to build this car. We would have enjoyed seeing this new car in production, as it would give the German built Porsche 918 a run for its money.

Audi Quattro Concept:

Do you need to suck up grass, roots, trees, kids and small puppies? Well this vehicle from Audi might be able to do it, as it has one hell of a front end. It was created to celebrate 30 years of Quattro performance.

Powering it will be a 408 horsepower turbocharged five-cylinder motor with a six-speed manual transmission. That will help the car have the same power to weight ratio as the Audi R8 5.2.

Audi e-tron Spyder:

This newest car with a robot name uses two electric motors and a twin-turbocharged TDI V6 for a combined 479 pound-feet of torque. Those batteries will be placed in the front of the car, but not to worry, as Audi says the weight will be evenly distributed.

Audi says that this new car weights around 3,196 pounds and it can travel at a speed of 37 mph for 31 miles on electric only. Not bad.

BMW Concept 6 Series Coupé:

The new 6 Series Coupe will based on the newest 5-Series with some cues from the Grand Coupe concept shown in China. It will get the brands kidney grille with full-LED headlights and a very lovely back end. We like it, although some won’t.

The interior is typical BMW with a small twist. The instruments are slanted towards the driver and there are plenty of leather and aluminum surfaces. We haven’t heard any news on the specs, but we can guess that it will be powered by a few inline-six motors, either turbocharged or naturally aspirated. We would expect this new 6-Series to hit showrooms early next year.

Opel GTC Paris Concept:

Opel has already given us a very sexy wagon and this new hatch is just as good. The GTC Paris Concept can haul five people and be used as a sports car. It will have a 2.0-liter petrol motor that will put out 290 horsepower.

The car has a wonderful look with big hips that really dominate the overall design. Opel has no plans to make this machine, but we doubt that.

2011 Honda Fit (Jazz) Hybrid:

We like the name Jazz more than Fit, but whatever. We think that this machine should be wonderful, as Honda might use some of the elements from the CR-Z.

The hybrid Jazz will get the Integrated Motor Assist hybrid system with a 1.3-liter petrol motor. It will go on sale in Europe in early 2011. No such machine will be coming to America.

Renault Dezir Concept:

Nobody ever said the French couldn’t design stuff. The new concept Dezir is stunning in nearly every single way. It uses reversed-hinged butterfly doors and an ultra-wide aluminum sideblads that give the car a sleek look. There is even an electric motor powering it.

Renault believes that the motor will be able to crank out 150 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque and that hurts us on the inside. Such a gorgeous body with not enough power always breaks our hearts.

Seat Ibe Concept:

Seat might not be the first car name on the tongues of Americans – in fact most think that it’s someplace to sit – but with the new Ibe concept, things might change. The looks of the car are pure sport style, albeit a bit short.

Power comes from a 102 horsepower motor with 148 pound-feet of torque. The motor is electric and it should be able to hit 60 mph in just nine or so seconds. The batteries should provide around 81 miles of range.

Kia Pop Concept:

If there was ever a car that won’t be made, this is it. Kia believes, as did most of the world’s car companies at one time, that this sort of machine is the city vehicle of the future.

The car will fit three people and the windows will provide amazing views for the passenger and driver. There is just one button in the cabin and the rest are touch screens, so bring your Windex.

Powering the car will be batteries that will take you up to 100 miles. Top speed is just 87 miles per hour, averaging driving speed on Interstate 95. We think we’ll pass for now.

Mastretta MXT:

Mexico, the home of American cars, has decided to make one of their own. It will be powered by a Ford 2.0-liter Duratec V6 that will pump out 250 horsepower and 257 pound-feet of torque, thanks to a turbocharger.

The look of the car is fairly decent but nothing wonderful. The interior still needs some work, but the overall look is quite good. The car will feature an aluminum semi-monocoque frame with a carbon fiber belly pan and a steel subframe. The body is fiberglass reinforced plastic.

The car will come with some neat toys as well, including, a motor and doors. That’s right, this car is barren. There are no airbags, ABS, stability control or anything of that sort. On top of that, it will cost $50,000.

The company is looking to get a UK certification shortly, but in order to sell in the United States, it will need to pass more tests.

Chevrolet Aveo:

The old Aveo was more of a joke than an actual car, but this new one hopes to change that perception. We like the look of the car, as it has some Spark-like design elements. Of course, the production car will get some tweaks, so for now; this is just a show car.

Powering the new Chevy will be a 1.6-liter four-cylinder 115 horsepower. The Europeans will have four engines to choose from. The interior has also been redone, as GM hopes to complete with the Ford Fiesta.

Renault Twizy:

This might sound hard to believe, but Renault has told us that the Twizy is a production vehicle. We aren’t so sure if they’re being truthful, or what this machine actually is. It looks like a four-wheeled covered scooter to us.

There might be two different versions of the vehicle you see above, one has nine horsepower and the other will have 20 horsepower. The former can hit a speed of 28 mph and the latter around 47 mph. It will only take three and a half hours to fully charge the machine for its 60 miles per hour range.

Renault is taking pre-orders, so if you live in a city and want something of this sort you better hurry it up. Renault might have some on the market by the end of 2011.
