Toyota’s FT-86 sports car turned out to be not such a successful car, as he company already announced plans to delay the official unveiling of the production version. But the Japanese company will try in a different direction: a new range of budget sports vehicles aimed for young drivers.

Toyota believes that they have lost their younger clients because the line-up is missing attractive cars that are fun to drive. As a result, for the future Toyota will promote a design-oriented development of new sports vehicles in pursuit of originality, while allowing its sports vehicle management division to take control over product planning. This new models will take them design language from the FT-86 concept, but Toyota will focus on keeping their prices as low as possible.

"We want to offer more cars that are fun to drive and make people think ’Toyota is interesting,’" said Toyota Vice President Takeshi Uchiyamada during a press interview held on Sept. 3, adding, "Sales performance is not our primary concern."

Sure, my point was, that powerwindows can hardly be considered a gadget anymore. Could i live without them? Yes. Do i want to live without them? No. Same goes for powerstreering. There was a time, long, long ago, when you had to use your hand to operate the vipers, nobody wants to go back to that, do they?

If they really want to make budget friendly super cars, they should focus on the cars performance and style but lessening the gadgets on the car.

Power windows doesn’t cost that much and are standard in even the cheapest cars today. However i don’t see any reason for having climate control as standard. And i don’t see any reason for having automathic transmission at all.

If they want to sell these for as cheap as possible, then they should remove expensive options. Such amenities as power windows or automatic climate control are not necessary for a sports car, and should not be offered as standard.
