The Trofeo Maserati GranTurismo MC turned on the ignition with the pre-championship test held on April 24-25 in Vallelunga, a prep for the first practices in Monza on May 23. A long-run simulation was done to make the final checks of the cars assigned to signed-up drivers. One of the protagonist of the test has been Emanuele Smurra, the winner of the first Trofeo Maserati held in 2003. Over 16 drivers from various European countries also participated.

The MC Trofeo is powered by the same 4.7 Liter V8 engine as the standard road car, except that the MC Trofeo’s power plant has been upgraded with a racing spec exhaust system, free flowing air filter and a reprogrammed ECU to make them all work together and delivers a maximum output of 450 HP and 376 lb-ft of torque at 4750 RPM. Adding to the Gran Turismo’s track readiness is a racing spec suspension as well as a unique set of wheels made to handle the large amount of slick rubber.
