Video: 1,400-Horsepower AMS Performance Alpha 12 Nissan GT-R Tested

The latest episode of Car and Driver features one of the most amazing Nissan GT-R’s out there: a 1,400-horsepower version offered by no less an authority in aftermarket projects, AMS Performance.

The Alpha 12 GT-R is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine with a modified system, an increased boost pressure and reinforced block. With these updates, the Alpha 12 delivers a total of 1,400 horsepower and 1,014 lb/ft of torque. Not exactly mince meat, is it? As a result, the GT-R is capable of sprinting from 60 mph to 130 mph in just 3.46 seconds while breaking a quarter-mile time of just nine seconds at speeds in excess of 166 mph. Blown away yet?

The model is also the fastest R35 GT-R at the 2011 Texs Mile where it hit a top speed of 216.9 mph and also posted he fastest GT-R quarter mile in history, posting a time of 8.97 second a astonishing 169 mph.

Check out the video to see what Car and Driver thinks of this impressive Nissan GT-R.

i do not know about you, but i think this car is 60% great and 40% scarry. still, it is awesome!

alex, what the driver says about the veyron might not be true. i mean, it still has 1000 HP and 1000 pounds-feet of torque. that is not such a big difference.

only now i realize how much work there is behind such a powerful car.

i like the fact that the driver said this car is more aggressive than the veyron. that is something!

the ounce of crazy and the money, too. it is not quite cheap!

i think an ounce of "crazy" is needed to end up buying this car.

you must be experienced and realistic enough not to push it too hard!

by seeing how the car slided without the traction control, i guess you must have some experience to not end up in a ditch!

not brave, but a good driver. an experienced, capable, calm, realistic and good driver!

crazy or not, you must be braver than most to drive a car like this!

i am quite sure a car like this is crazy. actually, the car is just powerful to the extreme, the buyer is crazy!

i think a car like this is just crazy!

that 1400 HP needs special race fuel. still, the 1100 HP you get with regular fuel are more than enough.

that 1400 HP is amazing! it really is!
