Time for some juicy prototype supercar footage and speculation. The cool kids at TouriClips have scored some new film of the new Audi R8 blasting around the Nurburgring. Based on the sound of the engine, this appears to be a V-10-powered car. There are some weird things happening though. At certain points, there appears to be what sounds like the whistle of a turbocharger.
This is crazy for many reasons, not the least of which is the idea of a turbocharged V10 production car. For starters, the Lamborghini Huracan uses a sister engine, and I don’t see the Volkswagen bosses letting the Audi outpace the Lamborghini .
Otherwise, the video is full of what we traditionally expect. Plenty of speed, hard cornering and engine noise. Take a look at the video and keep your ears open. Tell us what you think about this video. Does that engine note have the familiar sound of forced induction, or are my ears playing tricks on me? Sound off in the comments.
