Video: Audi R8 V10 vs MTM Audi RS6

  news

It’s not every day that you have the chance to see a test comparison between a sports coupe and a sedan. But when it comes to two Audi models, this comes as no surprise.

GTBoard compared an MTM Audi RS6 and a Audi R8 V10 with the limiter removed from the ECU.

The first of them, the RS6, was able to obtain 656 hp and 785 Nm of torque. With these numbers, the sprint from 0-60mph is made in 3.9 seconds while the top speed can be limited at 279, 290, or 310 km/h.

As for the R8 V10, it develops a total of 525 HP, but with the limiter removed, it gets the same 560 HP as found in Lamborghini’s Gallardo and the Audi R8 GT.

Which is the best? Who knows; life is full of surprises. Check out the video to see which reigned supreme.

Audi is a V8 and maintenance is non existent. I’ve taken the car to the dealer for the usual oil changes, but I’ve definitely enjoyed its trouble free ownership. Great car!

I would challenge the "enthusiast" title for someone who "needs" more than 420 hp in a 3500 lb car. Unless you’re a professional driver, you’re not gonna know what to do with 580 hp.

that comment is pretty much right on target. i always wonder why people say this car will kill the gallardo. the gallardo, though a beautiful and amazingly engineered car in its own right, is not a car that would ever be cross-shopped with an Audi.

This would be a car you could drive hard all day and wouldn’t be comfortable.

The real problem is who’s going to warranty these cars in North America? Not Audi, and no Audi dealer will touch one of these cars.

"With 580 (or more) ponies in tow, the R8 should beat most anything on the road, including its current competition like the Porsche 911 that offers more powerful models in its lineup."

With Porsche cutting prices and the GT-R out maybe they feel they have some competition in the 480hp awd dual clutch sports car that most people can’t possibly afford segment smiley

I was on their lot looking (ok, maybe drooling) at cars and saw a black S3 behind the building in the service area. The story I was told was that the guy who owned the car was in the U.S. Army and brought the car back to the States after being stationed in Germany. He had the car federalized and was driving it regularly. The car ended up at the dealer because he crested a hill so fast, the car went airborne and all four wheels broke after the car hit the ground. The car was towed to the dealer and they were waiting for parts to fix it.

Makes perfect sense to me. What a sweet ride to begin with...and adding this new engine is like throwing gas on a fire!
