How often do you get to experience a super fast luxury station wagon->ke143 doing insane speeds on test bowl or even a twisty, complicated and undulating test track? Audi->ke14 UK recently ran a campaign where guests were invited to experience Audi's->ke14 'S' and 'RS' range of premium sports cars->ke506.

Millbrook proving grounds is a purpose-built test facility in Bedfordshire, England. It includes a high-speed bowl where the cars can be maxed, plus a twisty Alpine test course with elevation changes and tight bends. The Alpine course was designed to mimic actual mountain roads where the car's high speed handling and stability are pushed to the limit.

Guests got a chance to ride alongside a seasoned driver and experience the limits of the cars. The new Audi RS6 Avant was the star of the show, much to the surprise of just about no one. Despite its immense size and weight, the RS6 was pretty quick around the Alpine track, and on the high-speed bowl, the RS6 hit speeds in excess of 170 mph.

2013 Audi RS6 Avant

The new Audi RS6 Avant is a practical family car with supercar-like performance. The subtly flared wheel arches, the twin-exhausts, and body kit does make it look special. Under its hood lies a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8. The engine delivers 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet through an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox. 'Quattro' all-wheel drive takes care of managing power for optimal traction.

Inside, the RS6's cabin, like any other Audi, is the best-quality leather and equipment. There are RS6 badges all over, reminding you that you can't take liberties with the monstrous engine. That said, it demands a boatload of throttle, and the sound it makes is just addictive. It's also lightning quick from 0 to 60 mph, thanks to all-wheel drive, which helps it complete the sprint in just 3.9 seconds.

Sadly, Audi has no plans to launch the RS6 Avant in the U.S. It is a shame that we don't get to experience the most powerful Audi V-8 available today, That said, Audi will sell the RS7 sports sedan, which is equally insane and it looks brilliant. If you look further, Mercedes-Benz will sell you an E63 AMG wagon, which should work if you're yearning for a high-performance wagon. You could even have the Cadillac CTS-V Wagon, for those looking for a little American wagon muscle.
