2014 has been a busy year for McLaren->ke284 and a fun-filled nine months for us so far, in which we've seen countless videos of the P1 supercar and the 650S being hooned on the track. We already know what those vehicles are capable of, and boy they certainly are impressive, but the time has come to take a look at one of the company's newest race cars. We're talking about the 650S GT3.

Developed as a successor to the highly acclaimed 12C GT3, the 650S GT3 will replace its forerunner in the Blancplain Endurance Series and other GT races starting 2015, hoping to gather more credentials for McLaren as a race car->ke148 constructor. Essentially an updated 12C GT3, the 650S GT3 showcases the manufacturer's newly developed racing parts, which include a revised suspension system, a wider track, and new-generation track tires.

Powered by McLaren's award-winning, twin-turbo, 3.8-liter, V-8 engine, the 650S GT3 hits the track with 493 horsepower at its disposal. The oomph is guided to the wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission and kept in balance by an array of race-bred underpinnings and a high-performance braking system. As things stand, the 650S GT3 will be a blast to watch once the 2015 racing season commences. We're still a few months away, but the Brits are building the hype with a brand-new video showing the race car disturbing a peaceful forest with its ear-piercing exhaust note.
