Video: Dallenbach Racer gets pre-Pikes Peak shakedown

  news

In the weeks leading up to the 2011 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, one team that’s entering the ’Unlimited Class’ of the event is shooting for the stars, bent on being the first team to break the 10-minute hill climb mark.

The Dallenbach Racing Team, together with its partner, Banks Power, is in the final stages of their preparation for Pikes Peak with their 1,307-horsepower machine, the "DallenBach Special". The car that boasts of the eye-popping output also carries 1,206 lb/ft of torque, providing it with enough power to have as good a chance as anybody in breaking the 10:01 record set by Nobuhiro Tajima.

In Part 2 of the two-part video filmed by Banks Power, the Dallenbach Special is put through the paces by Paul Dallenbach through a series of test runs done on the Pikes Peak course. There’s some added commentary featuring Dallenbach and Gale Banks on the video, too, providing us with an inside look at the testing being done on the car leading up to the car being unleashed on June 26.

That was a fearless shakedown. You shouldn’t blink and witness how it was being done.

That was such a great record for the team. However, that 10 minute hill climb is such a dangerous act.

Hmm, I do find the car having some odd design features. But that one is not really all that bad, besides, besides, the whole point of the car is speed, and I think that it has lots of it.

Wow, this one actually looks very impressive. I must admit that I was a bit skeptical when I first saw this one. But now, I think that it will actually be able to pull off the feat.

It does look very promising, but I don’t know if it would actually be able to pull this one off. But then again, they still have a week or two to prepare, so this one would really be a surprise.

Nice video! The act was so exciting and thrilling. I feel like I’m the one who drives the car! It’s feel so good!

Yeah! And its good thing that though this car has an amazing speed, the driver still can drive the car in the corner. BTW, I think in the off road, the sound of the engine becomes shabby.

Just listening to the sound create by the engine of this car you can really sense in how smooth riding experience that this car can offer.1,206 lb/ft of torque is extremely incredible it really makes the car runs like a rocket speed!
