Though we've already learned about the second Hellcat to join Dodge's lineup, let's not forget about the original. Shortly before revealing the 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat, Dodge->ke28 shot a video surrounding the Charger SRT Hellcat with a few members of the team that had hands in making this monster. The video dives into the details surrounding the process of coming up with this insane slab of metal and how hard it was to get the fun-killing bean counters to sign off on it.

Given the car was put into motion by the SRT team -- one that is more concerned with power and speed than how much money it can make -- it wasn't hard to get the big-wigs to sign off on it. SRT has never been shy about building cars that really make no sense financially, but are a hell of a lot of fun to drive, and I love them for that. The Hellcat lineup, particularly the Charger, is a prime example of tossing caution to the wind and building something insane that could potentially end up as one massive fail (read: SRT Viper)

The jury is still out on whether the Hellcats will be successful or not, but if my drool-covered keyboard is any barometer of its success, chances are customers will be climbing over one another to get their hands on one.

As a reminder, the Challenger Hellcat carries a 6.2-liter, supercharged, HEMI V-8 with an unreal 707 horses and 650 pound-feet off tire-torching torque. This all routes through a standard six-cog manual or an optional TorqueFlight, eight-speed autobox en route to the rear wheels. It rips off 0-to-60 sprints in just 3.5 seconds and crushes the quarter-mile in just 11.2 seconds with street tires... Yeah, it's bad-ass...
