Every now and again, a car somehow finds a way to strike up unbridled emotion and response from its driver not usually uncovered during the normal happenings of life -- even if those happenings include driving hypercars->ke177 around a track. That’s exactly what’s going on for Richard Meaden of Evo as he pilots a 2014 McLaren P1->ke4608 around the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Though pushing a car to its limits is nothing new for Meaden, the P1->ke4608 offers a new, more raw emotion that brings back memories of his first supercar experience more than 20 years prior. It’s hard to imagine ourselves handling the experience with as much tact and restraint. Heck, we’d probably doing something we regretted.

The P1 evicts emotions with its 727-horspower, 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V-8 that also makes 531 pound-feet of torque. Combine that with the electric motor’s power to get a grand total of 903 horsepower and an impressive 664 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission slaps out shifts faster than you can imagine, while pushing the 3,086-pound car to 62 mph in just 2.8 seconds on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 217 mph. Its acceleration times are blindingly quick even past 62 mph, as the McLaren->ke284 reaches 152 mph in just 9.8 seconds.

I suggest taking an eight-minute break to watch this spectacular video of what the McLaren P1 does best.
