Things have evolved significantly for Selena Gomez in the past few years. She went from "Wizards of Waverly Place" - the TV series that made her famous to the upcoming "Getaway" - the heart-pounding action thriller from Warner Bros.

The movie tells the story of former racecar driver, Brent Magna (Ethan Hawke), who is pitted against the clock. His wife got kidnapped and he is now desperately trying to save her.

Brent commandeers a custom Shelby Cobra Mustang, taking it and an unwitting carjacker (Selena Gomez) on a high-speed race against time, at the command of the mysterious villain holding his wife hostage. It looks like the movie will bring quite an evolution in Selena's acting career: up from playing with a magic wand to being a car thief.

With a 662-horsepower Shelby GT500 in the works, this looks to be a pretty sweet flick.

The new "Getaway" movie will arrive in the U.S. theaters on 30 August 2013. Stay tuned for additional trailers.
