Video: Joerg Bergmeister drives the 2011 911 Carrera GTS

The new Porsche Carrera GTS is no doubt a car for serious racers, so what does a five-time American Le Mans Series champion think of it?

During the Carrera GTS’ press launch down in Palm Springs, Florida, Joerg Bergmeister was asked to hop into the sports car and take it for a little test driving fun. Not only does the champion tell us what he thinks about the car, he even goes as far as comparing it to his very own 911 Carrera S and Flying Lizard 911 GT3 RSR car.

The new Carerra GTS is powered by a 3.8-liter flat engine delivering 408 HP and 420 NM of torque. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 4.2 seconds for a GTS Coupe with PDK and a Sport Chrono Package Plus in Sport Plus mode, and the top speed goes up to 190 mph.

All you have to do is sit back, relax, and take the time to learn a little from a professional.

It looks nice with its wide body, but performance wise it will always lag behind the mental gt3.

It’s a superb job, but I simply do not understand the point of this car – price wise its SO close to the GT3 (290K vs 296K) that its pointless. Hands up who’d prefer a GT3 than a GTS!

Selling 911 is easy with so many versions. But I think lots of people forget about the standard model too fast.
