Video: Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 "Valentino Balboni"

About a month ago, word spread out that Lamborghini was releasing a special edition Gallardo LP560-4 to honor their venerated test driver, Valentino Balboni.

For those who don’t know, Balboni has driven more Lamborghini’s than any of us can ever have in a thousand lifetimes. Since 1967, he has been behind the wheel of every Lamborghini model that has rolled out of the Sant’Agata plant in Italy, test driving it to make sure that the cars worked in tip-top condition. So it only seemed fitting that after four decades of working for the company, Balboni would one day have a car devoted entirely to him and while we’ve seen a few clips of this ‘special edition’ Lambo, it wasn’t until a video came out of Balboni himself describing the thought process behind the car that bears his name.

By all accounts, we’re pretty envious of Valentino Balboni on all levels. Not only was he able to drive as many Lamborghinis as he could – and call it his day job – but to have the luxury Italian car brand commission a car just for you, then, yeah, we’d die to be in his shoes.
