We don’t exactly know which one’s more impressive: that crystal Nissan 370Z or the fact that Shell, together with ad agency JWT and director Ivan Bird, could make a commercial as cool as this. We can’t decide on the matter so, we’re just going to have to settle for the fact that both are equally impressive.
By using a high-grade Perspex acrylic that created a pretty accurate working replica of the 370Z, Shell was able to demonstrate how the Shell Helix works through the car’s engine and how it coats the pistons, crank, and some of its other parts. Looking at it more intently, you’ll probably notice that the only thing that wasn’t ’crystalized’ in the 370Z are the tires and the spark plugs, which makes the whole commercial a sight to behold.
Check it out and, if you’re not impressed with how JWT was able to create this ad, then there’s clearly something wrong with you.

:hmm. Shell and Ferrari have been partnered for a long time.. I wonder on why they have used a Nissan car instead of Ferrari here. However, I was impressed on the commercial.
I think this is the best commercial that I have seen so far. The transparent version of Nissan 370Z is very impressive! Seeing on how the fuel works inside the car is quite amazing.
while that’s pretty cool - I’m pretty sure if I put some Royal Purple, or some Mobil 1 in there, it would look exactly the same (except the fact that RP is purple).
Actually Shell Helix is a very good lubricant. The engines feels smooth and easy to start and it doesn’t smell when the engine heating up in the morning like other lubricants does. I’d been using shell helix for almost 5 years for my car and the engine still sounds nice and smooth. Anyway, nice ad.
Cool video! That car is made of crystal and the engine was designed by a graphic designer. I think this advertisement can win some award in advertisement competition.
