Video: Subaru breaks Mt. Washington Hillclimb record

Racing teams and automakers alike are always striving to prove their strength and dazzle us with the impressive technology used in their vehicles. Many times, they succeed in doing so when they manage to break some records. There is, and will always be, a war in terms of record-breaking and this week, Subaru Rally Team USA is stepping ahead of the pack with a speedy trek up the famed Mt. Washington Hillclimb.

On Sunday, July 26, 2011, Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins took to the famous course with a SportsCar-prepped Subaru WRX STi rally car equipped with BFGoodrich RC01 Rally tires. With this beast, Higgins managed to finish the hill climb in only 6 minutes and 11.54 seconds - that’s about 30 seconds faster than Frank Sprongl’s previous record from 1998. Higgins also beat the unofficial record of 6:20.47 set by Travis Pastrana last year.

The track of the mountain is so dangerous. I’m so nervous while watching this video. However, this is great. Some of a day the record can beat.

The course of the track is kind of dangerous! Hell, that’s a cliff! David Higgins don’t care on narrowness of the hill. He is just a professional driver that he can drift the car like that.

hmm. That quite an impressive record. I never thought that Subaru WRX will be a good car to use for a hill climb! I really admired the performance of the standard version and knowing that it has more to offer, I’m already falling in love on this production.

That is what Subaru got. They really proved that they have the power to beat world records. Based on the performance, I can say that this rally car is promising. Let us not forget the driver who really made a great job on handling the car. Congratulations for Subaru! Keep it up!
