Video: The Price is Right Offers up a Ferrari 458 Italia as a Prize

Okay, if you grew up through the 1980s and 1990s – yes I am dating myself here – with The Price is Right, then you likely remember that most of the cars they gave away are essentially junk by today’s standards. We can all hear the late Rod Roddy saying “A brand new car; this 1985 Chevrolet Citation…” etcetera, etcetera. When we see these reruns today, we all laugh our tails off, but the contestants were more than happy to get their 1980s econo-crapboxes.

Fast-forward 20-plus years and now we have the once-famous-now-reduced-to-riding-Bob-Barker’s-coattail Drew Carey hosting the show and prizes are equally as modern as that 1985 Citation once was. Still, we never saw a super-cool car offered up by the Price is Right folks – until now. The car offered up as the grand prize for winning “Three Strikes” in the above video was a Ferrari 458 Italia – yeah, the $285k supercar .

Unfortunately for the lady that was playing for the prize, she was given the hook in short order, thanks to three quick strikes. Then again, maybe it was a blessing, considering the taxes alone on this supercar would be nearly $25,000.

Check out the video above to see the action. If you don’t want to wait through the entire video, you can skip to the good part at about the 3-minute mark.
