Video: the story behind the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics

  news

BMW has just launched the "unscripted", a series about people, talking about their life, passion and joy with the brand BMW. And the first man talking about his passion is Juergen Greil, one of the engineers behind the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept.

The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics is a 2+2-seater plug-in hybrid model powered by a three-cylinder turbodiesel engine combined with two electric motors. All three of them are delivering 356 hp and a peak torque of 590 lb-ft. Fuel consumption is reduced to 75.1 mpg imp, while CO2 emissions is just 99 grams/km. The new hybrid concept can hit a top speed of 155 mph, while the 0 to 60 mph sprint is made in 4,8 seconds. We have to remind you that a production version is set to be unveiled in early 2012.

I really admired this video. German Engineers were really devoted themselves in producing such kind of dynamic model. You can easily imagine the ideas and turn it into a real ones. Great Job!

I don’t think that there is an interest for such cars at this price point...let alone diesel cars would this be the most expensive diesel car in the world when it comes out? Would the V12 TDI Q7 be the record holder ATM?

This is stupid. MPG just isn’t relevant in an exotic, and the performance is only marginally better than a 335i. This should have had a simpler drivetrain, with the hybrid system optional, with simpler materials, and been the next-gen 1-series. Could you imagine the sales if this was under $35k!?

The impressive Bavarian concept unveiled last year at the LA Auto Show will make few steps ahead as the model was confirmed to enter the series production

wow what an innovation from BMW, i can believe that a 3 cylinder engine with turbo can have a 356HP i bet that BMW has carefully engineered the VISION.
