Pikes Peak is the home of the dramatic wreck, thanks to its 156 twists and turns over a 12-mile-long mountain course. Thanks to Paul Dallenbach, we got a really cool first-hand account of one of the two most dramatic wrecks of this year's run. Fortunately, he is doing well and seems ready to hop back in the driver's seat.

By far the most dramatic wreck, but only because we get to see the entire thing unfold, is the one that Jeremy Foley and his co-driver endured. As his Lancer Evolution->ke2426 was heading toward an area very appropriately named “Devil's Playground,” Jeremy lost control of his Evo and went straight over the hill, rolling about 10 times – by our count – before finally coming to a smoking rest. The two had Dallenbach-like luck, as neither broke any bones, according to reports, but the co-driver is suffering from a sore shoulder. Check out the dramatic video above.

The next wreck in line is much less dramatic, but it does show the advantage that smaller cars have over vintage cars. As Keith Davidson approaches a sharp turn, something happens – it looks as if the car wouldn't slow down fast enough – and his 1963 Falcon->ke442 Sprint goes plunging off of the track. We haven't heard any word on Keith's condition, but we're sure he's doing just fine. We have an email out to Keith's racing team to make sure he is in good shape and what exactly caused the accident.

UPDATE 08/27/2012: Keith's racing team has touched base with us to let us know that he is in good shape and ready to tackle the Hill again next year to reclaim the vintage title! Apparently, this wreck was 100% driver error, as he was accelerating when he should have been decelerating! There were a few elements that were combined to put him in that position, but we are confident that this is a prime example of learning from one's mistakes. We cannot wait until next year when Keith comes back with that insatiable title hunger!

The final wreck footage that we have is the least dramatic, but cool nonetheless. It is of Mike Ryan's semi truck hitting the guardrail and spinning out in the Devil's Playground, as he attempted to drift his big rig around a hairpin turn. He managed to get his bearings about him a few seconds after the spin out and got right back into the race. At the end of this video, you also catch the original footage of Foley's dramatic plunge, so there's a little added bonus for you.

That closes out all of the wrecks that we have footage of, but we are sure more will surface as filmmakers continue to edit their footage and post it online. We will make sure to keep you up to date on all of the 2012 PPIHC wrecks as they become available.
