Video: Walter Rohl will return to Pikes Peak with the Audi Sport quattro S1

25 years ago, Walter Rohl won the 1987 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb while driving the Audi Sport quattro S1 . Fast forward to this year and the 2012 installment of the annual race in Colorado will ring nostalgic as Rohl is set to make his return race to Pikes Peak.

The car Rohl will be piloting? No other than the same 591-horsepower Audi Sport quattro S1 he raced to victory a quarter of a century ago.

In this video, Audi takes us on behind-the-scenes look at preparations being done on the Sport quattro S1 leading up to its Pikes Peak return. Fascinating is an understatement in trying to describe the video, especially when you take into account all the things that need to be done to ensure that a 25-year old race car can tackle Pikes Peak the same way it did during its lean years.

So if you have the time, spare the three minutes and change and watch the video.

Is there any other famous person in this competition?

I guess we must wait for that event.

So I think that this will end up victorious.

Can Rohl beat Audi? I doubt about the race. I never knew that a Walter does exist.

I’m supporting Rohl on this one.

I think Rohl can make it up to the end of the race.

I trust Rohl with Sport Quattro S1 to win this.

Quattro S1’s specs meets the requirements anyway, so I don’t think Rohl will have any problem on handling it.

I don’t doubt Rohl’s capability to win the Pikes Peak once more with Audi. The mentioned car company hasn’t been one of my bets when it comes to this, so if Rohl can win it, I’d probably see its credibility.

It’s all about the guts to perform! I think Rohl will be thriumphant because he’s a confident person, and Quattro S1 is flawless.

For sure, Walter has studied this a lot. I’m pretty certain that even if he doesn’t win, he’ll give us a wonderful performance.

If Rohl masters the handling of this Audi Sport Quattro S1, then there’s no doubt that he’ll be victorious again.

It’s a very good tandem actually. I hope Walter Rohl is practicing a lot with its handling.

I don’t know whether to rely on Walter Rohl or on Audi Sport Quattro S1. Since Rohl is the one who would be taking over, I trust him to handle the car efficiently in order to succeed!

The sports car is said to have a maximum horsepower of 591, and that would be powerful enough to compete. I conclude that Walter Rohl will successfully and effectively conquer the upcoming Pikes Peak depending on his handling with the Audi Sport Quattro S1.
