The new generation Jetta was revealed only two days ago and rumors about future versions are already starting to appear on the internet. The first of the rumors involves a hybrid drivetrain for the new Jetta. It will be unveiled in 2012, but there still isn't any specific information on the powertrain.

The next rumor circulating is that it might be seeing a higher performance version. Like with the Scirocco and the new Golf, the Jetta will also be offered in an R version. For this version we expect the same 2.0 Liter turbocharged four cylinder engine that delivers 270 HP at 6,000 RPM as in the Golf R. The standard R features a more aggressive front bumper complete with large air intakes, standard LED strips, a new designed R logo, Bi-Xenon headlights, and mirror housings painted in a high gloss black paint.

For the US market, the new Jetta will be offered with S, SE, SEL and TDI trim levels with four engines. The engine line-up includes the 2.0, 2.5 R5, and as of 2011, the 2.0 TSI. The 2.0-liter turbodiesel direct injection (TDI) Clean Diesel engine will also be available. This engine delivers 236 lbs-ft. of torque and sprints the car from 0 to 60 mph in 8.7 seconds.
