Volkswagen has decided to join forces with Suzuki to battle it out against Toyota. Why, you ask? Well, up until the recall fiasco, Toyota was one of the largest producers of automobiles and Volkswagen felt it was about time to knock them off their high horse. Suzuki apparently agreed and so the Rocktan SUV was born. As the new VW/Suzuki joint venture, the Rocktan is a low-cost SUV based on the Suzuki SX-4 that will compete with models like Nissan Juke and the Toyota Urban Cruiser. It will be placed between the CrossPolo and the Tiguan and will also be considered as a replacement for the Golf Plus CrossGolf. Under the hood the Rocktan will almost certainly be equipped with Volkswagen’s own 1.4 TSI petrol and their 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI. Other details have yet to be released solely because no one is sure if this car will ever see production. This SUV will give consumers a low cost alternative to the seemingly high priced SUVs on the market. The price for the Rocktan is also VW and Suzuki’s biggest ace in the hole: the Rocktan will be sold for under 20,000 Euros. Stay tuned for more details! .
4 comments: Volkswagen prepares Rocktan SUV based on the Suzuki I think volkswagen is already thinking how to use better the Nippon resources and also I think this will become the first concrete result of the joint venture’s created between the two sides.
hmm VW/suzuki collaboration? I bet the nissan juke and urban cruiser doesn’t have a chance of winning it.
