In 1970s Volkswagen unveiled the first generation Scirocco, a model very well received by both Volkswagen concessionaires and customers. When, in 1981 the second generation Scirocco followed. Decades after, Volkswagen is unveiling the third generation Scirocco at the Geneva Motor Show.

The new Scirocco will be available with a range of engines including petrol alternatives and a diesel. The diesel engine will be available with the latest common-rail technology; the engines satisfies the future 2009 Euro-5 emission standards. The basic engine is a 1.4 TSI engine that will deliver 122 hp. The Scirocco is one of the first cars from the Volkswagen Group available with the seven-speed DSG transmission.
