Volvo and Polestar performance have teamed up for the past fifteen years and created some fine cars to race out on the track including the Volvo C30 that was last seen winning the Swedish Touring Car Championship, but it seems that these partners-in-crime have decided that it was time to go to the streets. Polestar Performance announced it will unveil the C30 Concept Prototype at the Gothenburg Motor show that will be held from April 22-25. With the Volvo C30 Polestar Concept Prototype, Polestar aimed to build further on the strong driving characteristics of the standard C30 and at the same time illustrate the link between the racing cars and the Polestar Performance products. The team tackled this assignment with a renewed excitement that one can only get from building a street car with a racing design that is not held up to specific racing regulations. The C30 Polestar Performance Concept Prototype is powered by a 2.5-liter T5 engine featuring a larger intercooler and a KKK 26 turbocharger. The output has been raised to an impressive 405 HP and 510 NM of torque. Press release after the jump. Press release Premiere for concept car from Volvo Cars’ official Racing and Performance Partner 10 comments: Volvo C30 Polestar Performance Concept Prototype hmm. I just don’t like the paint job of the car but the exterior seems pretty good. The engine performance is kind of impressive for a hatch , I think it would be better if they will start making a production for this car.
I’m impressed with the decency in the styling of this car though I don’t like its blue paint job. BTW, as expected from the Volvo it offers great performance over styling. The power output of this car is incredible for a hatch.
I wonder on what does the Volvo waits to make this concept into a production vehicle? The speed performance is very impressive for a hatch..its already equivalent to the power output of a sportscar.
This car is built just in the way we want to do it. Polestar has probably spent more time than anyone else in the world to get speed out of the C30, and this time we can realize ideas without being halted by specific race regulations.
BTW, wouldn’t it be awesome to see Volvo embrace the tuners something like what SMS does with the manufacturers they tune for?
Volvo C30 has received a thorough makeover by Evolve, a Southern California-based Volvo aftermarket tuner. And about the battery, It’s heavy, expensive and surprisingly inefficient. But damn cool. I’ll be glad to see it electrified though since they could fix the unattractive parts
of the ICE version. though, C30 looks fantastic when looking at it from the front and just off to the side, especially in the flesh. But the back, oh dear, the back. Somebody had beaten it with the ugly stick.
Looks like the older model of mazda hatch. but since it’s still a concept, I’d like to suggest that it come up to a red or black with racing stripes on top.
Cool color! This Volvo C30 Polestar looks awesome. The concept aims to build further on the strong driving characteristics of the standard C30 and at the same time its illustrate the link between the racing cars and the Polestar Performance products.
