The Pagani Zonda crash that has made headlines over the past few days might have had one very famous driver sitting behind its wheel. According to a UK newspaper, no other than three-time F1 world champion Sir Jackie Stewart was reportedly driving the supercar when it spun out of control after hitting a big patch of mud on a country road. The resulting bump caused the Zonda to hit a telegraph pole before barrelling straight through a chain-link fence.

The crash caught the attention of the mainstream media not only because it’s a Pagani Zonda->ke66 but also because the ensuing damage from the crash would cost $450,000 just for repairs.

Continued after the jump.

The exorbitant amount of money is said to be one of the country’s biggest insurance claims in history and according to Press and Journal, Sir Jackie Stewart was the driving the Zonda when it made its unexpected detour. For his part, the legendary race car driver has vehemently denied the reports of Press and Journal with one of his spokespeople saying that, “Sir Jackie wasn't in the country. He's never driven the car and doesn't know the owner."

There should be more to this than what meets the eye and as the days pass, we strongly expect to unearth further developments on what’s turning out to be quite a hot topic in the auto industry.
