Leaked photos, leaked pamphlets, spy shots; The truth always seems to come out no matter how much automakers try to hide it. This time, the truth was inadvertently released by an announcer during a Grand Am race. Turns out, the road going version of the Mustang Boss 302 will be debuted in Laguna Seca during the Pebble Beach Concours on August 13, 2010. Back in May, Mark Fields, President of the Americas for Ford Motor Company made a bold move by providing a not so subtle hint about the next special edition edition Mustang. After stating that he couldn’t exactly say what the next special edition would be, he offered everyone a hint. As soon as he finished his sentence, a 1970 Boss 302 drove across the stage and Fields said "Is that a subtle enough hint?" What we didn’t know was when the special edition Mustang would get the cover thrown off of it. Thanks to an inadvertent slip of the tongue, we now know the Boss will be coming back, and he will be doing it very soon. We just hope this announcer wasn’t blowing smoke because it would suck to have that carrot dangled in front of us and then have it snatched away. .
8 comments: Will Ford be unveiling the Mustang Boss 302 on August (...) I was really hoping for something more around 475HP — 95HP/liter — naturally aspirated. Peak power around 7600rpm or something. I mean, who wouldn’t want a V8 muscle car that would start around $35K (and pushing into the low 40s with go-fast bits) that you could rev till nearly 8K? Hell, I’m fairly certain you could make it sound glorious.
Many people said similar things about the 2000 Cobra R but I’d still take one in a heartbeat and park it right next to one of these, which I will own. It would round out my track able Mustang stable nicely.
Am I the only person who wants to see the 6.2L can do in a Mustang? It produces monster torque numbers and horsepower stock, and you can’t beat the displacement.

Gaining any position at the race quickly is the best, this Mustang(car in the video) impresses me a lot that I’m getting excited on driving one of these.
Agreed. Ford has stated that the 2011 GT500 will be capped to ensure exclusivity. (at around 5K units). That does not preclude a 2012 that is updated slightly.
They better make it lighter, lower and more hardcore, a la the original. The GT500 is good for showing off but, frankly, a "real" road car demands balance over sheer horsepower. I hope they err on the side of function than wild "look at me" BS...
