We always expect designs like this from Zagato. It built its reputation on creating beautiful low-slung coupes. What surprised us is who Zagato is building it for. The Italian design house usually works with brands in its home country (or at least mostly from Europe), but Zagato assembled this swoopy design for Perana Performance Group of South Africa.

The Perana Z-One will first see the light of day next week at the Geneva Motor Show. It's powered by a GM-sourced 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 440 hp. No word yet if this rear-wheel drive car also borrows other bits from GM's part's bin, but we do know that weight is down to a svelte 2634 lbs. This should be good for a 0 to 60 mph time in about 4 seconds.

Sales will begin in July and prices are rumored to possibly be as low as €50,000 (about $63,750 at the current rates.) The company hopes to sell around 1000 units a year.
