car video games

Car video games are more realistic than ever. With famous franchise like Gran Turismo and Forza motorports leading the way in mass market racing simulaion. Car video games are available in all genre, from destruction derby to drag racing. This page covers them all and on every platform: console, pc, mac, mobile, tablets.

Seeing Mercedes models in video games is something we expect to see in Gran Turismo or Forza 5 . But Mario Kart 8? Can’t say we saw this one coming.

But as it turns out, some of Mercedes’ finest models have been included as a sponsored pack for Mario Kart 8 on Wii U. The video above shows such iconic classics like the 300 SL Roadster and the W 25 Silver Arrows mixed in with modern-day offerings like the GLA-Class and the CLA-Class .

It’s an eclectic lineup of Mercedes models, but it’s definitely an effective way to reach a new platform of gamers that don’t play the Xbox One or the PlayStation 4. We’ve found Mario Kart to be incredibly addicting in the past, and these Mercedes likely won’t make it easier to drop the controller.

If you happen to have Wii U and Mario Kart 8, check out the video above. It might even entice you to get the Mercedes pack once you’re done watching it.

Anybody who has ever played Gran Turismo owes a lot of debt of gratitude to creator Kazunori Yamauchi, the architect behind the game’s birth and breath-taking fifteen-year evolution. Now you have a chance to do so by watching the full-length video of the Gran Turismo documentary “Kaz: Pushing the Virtual Divide”.

Last year, Gran Turismo announced the documentary as an inside look at the evolution of Gran Turismo from the eyes of the man who made it all possible. It traces Yamauchi’s incredible desire to create a car racing game that will put all others before it to shame. 15 years later, we’re still saying the same thing about Gran Turismo and its incredible advancements in video game technology .

Thanks to the support of Sony, Yamauchi was able to realize his objective and in so doing, the man was able to change the landscape of the gaming and automotive industries now and in the future.

The documentary is almost 90 minutes long so prepare to spend a lot of time to watch it. So prepare the popcorn and find yourself a comfortable couch to sit on. Rest assured, it’s worth every minute if you’re a fan of the Gran Turismo franchise.

There is a new Batman game coming, and with it we get a brand-new Batmobile. Our favorite caped crusader has a strong history of cool cars , but aside from a few quick appearances, the Batmobile has not really been a part of the recent Arkham game series from Rocksteady games.

That all changes with the new Arkham Knight game, and Rocksteady is going all in on Batmobile goodness. Not only can you drive it around the streets of Gotham as you please, but it also has the ability to transform into a tank.

Yes, it is a Batmobile that changes into a freaking tank. I can’t scream "take my money" fast enough.

Other cool features of the new Batmobile include the ability to instantly call it to your side from anywhere in the city. They included a cool ejector-seat function that will launch you into the air from the driver’s seat if you prefer to take to the skies and glide around.

You can get a quick look at how it all works in game thanks to a video we have after the break. If you are interested in the Arkham Knight game itself, we also have a nice trailer after break as well. Enjoy.

The game has no firm release date at this time, but expect it to hit modern consoles and PCs early 2015.

It has been a very busy few weeks for the team at Forza Horizon 2. The new game will be available in just a few short weeks and the list of cars coming to the game is growing quickly. We started with the first 100 a few weeks ago, and since then there have been 31 more cars made official. Yesterday, we noticed that an all-new trailer for the game showcased at least three other cars that had not been announced.

That is now only partially true, as Forza Horizon 2’s latest batch of official cars includes the Rally Fighter. Overall, we have 45 more cars to add the official list of the first 100, and there are some good ones here. From classic metal like the AMC Javelin and the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe , to legendary rally machines like the Lancia Stratos HF Stradale and the Audi Sport Quattro there is something for everyone. For the entire list of new additions, as well as highlights and photos for 11 cars form the list just take a look after the break.

Make sure to let us know which one of these cars is your favorite in the comments.

Microsoft had its big Gamescom conference today and announced some really cool stuff for its Forza series. The first piece of big news was the announcement of a new car pack that featured the Rolls Royce Wraith , and the second was some new and exciting footage for Forza Horizon 2. While watching the video however, I discovered a few things. New cars to be exact, and none of them have been officially announced yet.

Did they try to sneak one under our noses here?

The cars in questions are the Local Motors Rally Fighter and the KTM X-Bow . The Rally fighter is seen in two sequences in the distance as the player chases it. It can be slightly hard to make out, but it is very obviously the Rally Fighter. The scene we have captured here also looks as though the Bowler EXR S will be included as well.

The "driver’s" car in this shot of the Rally FIghter looks like a Range Rover sport , but it also bears a striking resemblance to the modified Bowler as well. I can’t tell definitively form this shot, but I am 90-percent sure we are looking at a Bowler.

The KTM was more prominently on display, but only if you know what to look for. There is an off-road scene that is being raced from the cockpit point of view. The open chassis car could be mistaken for the already announced Ariel Atom, but anyone who knows the X-Bow will recognize those fenders. You can see screenshots of both cars, comparison photos to their real life counterparts, and the entire video above.

We have reached out to Turn 10 and will update with their response.

Let me know your thoughts on all this in the comments below.

You may have seen our awesome interview and screenshots of the newly announced Rolls Royce Wraith for Forza Motorsport 5, but that isn’t the only car that is being released today. Along with the new Rolls, Forza Motorsport 5 is getting five other cars that cover a broad range of cars. We have the future of America’s muscle car , the future of formula racing , and we even have the future of super sedans too. There is also a little something special for Top Gear fans included as well.

I’m not one for spoiling surprises, so you will just have to click through to see what new cars are in store for all you Xbox One and Forza Motorsport 5 owners.

If you see something you like, don’t forget, the pack is available now and it is 100-percent free. It is only a side thing to note, but if you use a racing wheel with your Xbox, the new car pack and included updates adds a little polishing to the code to make those work better too.

That is right, folks. The all-new Rolls Royce Wraith is coming to Forza Motorsport 5, and we have exclusive details and images. During today’s Gamescom press conference in Germany, Microsoft and Turn 10 announced that Rolls Royce is bringing the new Wraith to an Xbox One console near you.

Being the most powerful and dynamic Rolls Royce ever created, it does seem like the perfect candidate for inclusion in the latest and greatest racing simulation.

Not only is Forza the first to get the Wraith, but this is actually the first time Rolls Royce has licensed any car for use in a racing game. This is history in the making, and you get the chance to participate. The new car pack features the Wraith and five new cars for the game. Best of all, the pack is 100-percent free and if you own an Xbox One, you can download it, RIGHT NOW.

Yeah, I’ll repeat that for you. Free and available now.

Turn 10 decided that since TopSpeed’s readers are so amazing, they would give us a pair of exclusive images and chance for a sweet interview with themselves and with Rolls Royce. You can see our other exclusive image of the new Wraith and read both of the interviews after the break.

Gran Turismo 6 is a car enthusiast’s dream. What GT6, or any Gran Turismo for that matter, offers is a chance to get as close as possible to the cars we love that we can’t drive in the real world. This is especially true for concept cars. Most concept cars never make it to production, and when they do, they usually end up resembling so little of the concept that it turns out to be a disappointment. Concept cars always look so much better than production cars because the design team has no boundaries or regulations to follow. The FT-1 is no different, as it simply looks fantastic. It was next to the Mercedes-Benz stand at the NYIAS and it stole most of the show-goers away from the German automaker’s. So when GT6 and Toyota announced that they would be making an FT-1 for the new game new game, with a 30 second teaser video, it obviously got all of us excited. It’s called the FT-1 Vision GT Concept, and it looks spectacular with it’s scoops, louvers and all that exposed carbon fiber. Let’s hope it drives as well as it looks, digitally of course.

Updated 08/14/2014: Toyota unveiled the official details and images on the FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo Concept set to be offered for Gran Turismo 6 users from September. Details after the jump.

While you wait for the announcement, feel free to offer some speculation on what you think might be coming in the comments below. If one of you guys gets it right, we will be sure to give you a shout out saying congratulations on the next live episode of the TopSpeed Podcast .

So we will see all of you tomorrow morning to talk about the crazy and cool news coming out of Xbox and Forza Motorsport.

It appears that the future of gaming may be upon us and it wears the name “4K.” With four times the numbers of pixels on the screen, all your games are supposed to look extra crisp and all those little details will stand out in the distance. Imagine how much better a game like Forza Motorsports or Gran Turismo would be if they looked even better.

Two of the latest and greatest racing games out right now, Grid Autosport and Next Car Game, both are 4K ready, and I wanted to see if there really was a big difference in how it feels to play a racing game with a setup like this.

I was able to snag a 4K resolution monitor from the fine folks at Asus, and I got to work. With the cost of 4K monitors still high, is this something anyone should consider?

Check out the future of gaming in 4K after the break.
