Video: New GRID 2 Trailer Unmasks European Locations

One of the marks of a great racing game is its ability to host races in various part of the world. It’s not enough that you have all the cars, but if you don’t have real-world racetracks to whip them around, then what’s the point, right?

Fortunately, the developers of GRID 2 understood this; that’s why this latest trailer, once again featuring the voice of the fictional Patrick Callahan, gives us a sneak peek at some of the European racetracks that will be included in the game.

The teaser is dominated by the voice of Callahan, who once again does his best to entice teams and drivers to sign up to his racing league, all while showing a multitude of racecars competing in various circuits around Europe.

Among the list of tracks that are expected to be part of the game include: the streets of Côte d’Azur, the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal, the Red Bull Ring, the streets of Paris and Barcelona, and Brands Hatch, to name a few.

If there’s also one thing this new teaser has shown us, it’s that GRID 2 is doing the whole full-court press in its attempt to get gamers interested in the game. We don’t necessarily see why it has to do it because there’s already a significant level of interest in it.

But if it means more titles flying off the shelves, why not, right?

Video: GRID 2 Teaser Introduces us to Patrick Callahan

If there were any awards for best video game teasers, GRID 2’s latest release would be a contender.

Veering away from the tried and tested method of action spliced with fast-paced music, the new GRID 2 teaser takes a much more calculated approach, introducing us to "racing visionary" Patrick Callahan.

In the teaser, Callahan outlines his plans for a new motorsports series and introduces players to two key racing clubs where he needs drivers to be a part of. He then goes on by saying that his intention is to bring some of the best drivers in the world to compete in one league to claim the title of the best driver in the galaxy. Ok, maybe just the world, but you get the picture.

The teaser also gives us a brief glimpse of some new tracks that you’ll see in the game, including Street Racing in Chicago, Track Racing at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Road Racing at the dramatic California Coast.

Combining both elements to make a pretty interesting teaser isn’t an easy task. But GRID 2 accomplishes it by taking a more cinematic approach with the usual dramatic dialogue. In the end, we’re definitely intrigued and looking forward to see how the game stacks up against the competition.

Real Racing 3

Real Racing was officially unveiled in 2009 and 2013 brings the game’s third installment. Real Racing 3 is produced by Electronic Arts and it is offered for the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and most Android devices at no charge.

The game offers a total of 46 licensed vehicles covering three classes, a 22-car grid across real world tracks, eight varied event types and over 900 events. The game is also offered with a neat feature called Time Shifted Multiplayer (TSM) - a multiplayer mode that allows players to race against their friends, even if they have different devices or if they’re offline.

The game also offers hours of gameplay and there is no need for you to pay in order to progress. However, in order to speed up car servicing and upgrade wait times you will need to earn and spend virtual currency. You can earn currency through racing events, leveling-up, obtaining trophies and competing with friends, or you can simply buy it.

The game can be downloaded for free at http://www.firemonkeys.com.au/downloadR3.

It’s already been well established that the 2014 Mercedes CLA 45 AMG is headed to the New York Auto Show. But even though that’s still a little over a month away, we’re already seeing some sneak peeks at the new compact luxury sedan.

The latest comes by way of Driveclub, a new racing game that’s developed exclusively for the Sony PlayStation 4. Unlike the Gran Turismo franchise, Driveclub is being touted as a game that offers highly connected gameplay that, according to Sony, is meant to be played in real clubs and encourages co-op game play among multiple players.

Well, one of the car’s that’s being prepared to be part of the game is the new CLA 45 AMG and as well it should because the luxury car comes packed with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that nets 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. More importantly, just like the game, the CLA 45 AMG is also a sight to behold, looking the part of a luxury sedan that’s well worth serious consideration when it hits dealerships in the future.

Keep it locked it in here when the CLA 45 AMG makes its world debut at the New York Auto Show. And in case you’re wondering, too, the PS4 and Driveclub are expected to hit stores just in time for the holidays.

Video: Sony Releases First Trailer of Driveclub

The past three generations of Sony’s PlayStation franchise has Gran Turismo to call as its signature racing game.

All that appears to be changing with the PlayStation 4 and it’s new baby, Driveclub.

During the recent launch of the PS4, Sony was quick to show a new racing game franchise that was developed by Evolution Studios. Judging from the first trailer of Driveclub, which was also shown during the event, you can expect the same type of gameplay and car roster as Gran Turismo while sprinkled in with better functions, playability and graphics that will completely blow all of us away.

If you haven’t seen the first trailer of Driveclub, now’s your chance to see the PS4’s new racing game franchise. Only time will tell if it can give Gran Turismo a reason to quake in its boots, but looking at the trailer and the amazing graphics it has, we’re pretty confident that Driveclub will enjoy a pretty strong following too.

Playstation 4 Debut Means Huge Changes for Gran Turismo

playstation 4 debut means huge changes for gran turismo picture

The new Xbox 360 is no doubt one of the most successful game consoles currently available and it is ramping up a successor. So it’s no surprise that Sony decided to launch its own next-gen system. The company will be unveiling the new PlayStation 4 (PS4) - internally known as Orbis - tomorrow, with sales to begin just in time for Christmas. Prices will be somewhere in the $450 area.

First rumors we have on the PS4 suggest it will get a CPU based on the AMD’s R10XX architecture, 4GB of RAM and a Blu-ray drive which will support up to 50 GB discs. The graphics will from AMD and will most likely include a Radeon GPU with 18 GCN units. The PS4 will also get a Dual Shock pad with a large touch pad replacing the previous Start and Select buttons.

What does the launch of the new PS4 and all of that techy mumbo-jumbo mean for us, car addicts? We don’t know about you, but we are already dreaming of a new-for-the-PS4 Gran Turismo. This new console will allow the game to deliver more realistic races and, of course, cars that are even truer to real life than they already are.

The game will also offer more accurate vehicle damage and other matters of depth that will make the game shine. You should also expect to see the ability to further customize the look of your car, like you do in other racing games. You will be able to select colors, graphics, vinyl layers, tuning parts, engine/drivetrain swaps and aero mods.

Also, it has been rumored that the new PS4 will allow you to record up to 15 minutes of game play, so you can watch after playing, allowing you to learn from the things you have done wrong.

Do not expect this to happen though until the Gran Turismo 6 finally arrives in stores and you may even have to wait a few years to see the PS4 used to its fullest capacity. Additionally, it is rumored that we will get a first preview of Gran Tursimo 6 tomorrow’s PS4 launch.

Video: GRID 2 Extended Trailer Released

Just five days ago, Codemasters unveiled the first trailer for the GRID 2 - a new racing game taking aim at games like Gran Turismo 5 or Forza 4. The problem is that the first teaser video was only a few seconds long and offered almost no details on the game.

Today, Codemasters released a new trailer video, one that’s a little bit longer and shows a few more details of the new game. Still, do not expect to learn much more by watching this new video, but we did indeed spot some supercars not shown in the first trailer and some really cool action.

This video shows cars like McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes Benz SL 65 AMG and Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition racing around the Arc de Triumph in Paris, and sports cars like Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 Nismo Z Tune, Pagani Huayra and Koenigsegg Agera R racing on the streets of Chicago.
