2011 Super GT Carlsson C25 Royale

The Carlsson C25 officially debuted last year at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, and this year it’s back in Geneva with more goodies and an even cooler name. The Super GT C25 Royale is a tuning project based on the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG . It includes an abundance of carbon fiber elements, as well as optimized driving dynamics and perfected electronics. Carlsson will only build 25 units of the C25 Royale, one unit for each country the vehicle will be sold in.

"There are more than enough super cars around that can only be driven safely on a racing track", says engineer Markus Schuster, Managing Director at Carlsson. "We deliberately wanted to develop a car that is exclusive on the one hand but can still be used for the daily commute to the office. A Super GT which can go from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.7 seconds while at the same time offering the utmost in ride comfort."

Exterior and Interior

We had to do a double-take when our eyes first landed on this luscious piece of machinery. The burgundy color covering the Mercedes is the perfect match for the full carbon fiber treatment given to the components of the car. These carbon fiber additions allow for a 180 kilo weight drop while also lowering the car’s center of gravity, allowing for more dynamic cornering ability, and more agile handling. Carlsson is also offering a full ceramic brake system with solid aluminum calipers.

For the interior, the Super GT C25 Royale gets ergonomically shaped seats, which have a massage function and a ventilation system to ensure greater comfort on long journeys.

Customers can choose their own colors and paint combinations, as well as what material will be used for the interior. Personally, we just love the color combination used for the debut car in Geneva. Spicy and sexy, to say the least!

Engine

Super GT Carlsson C25 Royale

The C25 Royale is powered by a V12 biturbo engine mated to a SPEEDSHIFT 5-gear automatic. This combination delivers a total of 753 HP at 5000 rpm and maximum torque of 1320 NM at 3750 rpm, but electronically limited to only 1150 Nm at 2000 to 4000 rpm. With this amount of power, along with a Kurb weight of 1970 kg, the sports car will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and will hit a top speed of 218 mph. Its power-to-weight ratio sits at 2.61 kg/hp.

A stiffer C-Tronic suspension and a compete ceramic brake system helps the wheels stick to the ground while a new exhaust system with four diamond-shaped tailpipe allows for the beautiful engine sounds to be heard.

Prices

The price for the Super GT C25 Royale is 429,000 Euro (510,510 Euro including German VAT). This translates to about $592,406 net and $704,963 including VAT. Only 25 units will be sold - one per country it’s sold in - and six have already been sold.

Competition

The Mercedes SL65 AMG is a pretty impressive car, so it’s no wonder it’s such a hit among tuners. Wheelsandmore launched a pretty impressive package just last year for the Mercedes, but, despite its 697 HP and 1150 Nm, it doesn’t come close to the C25 Royale.

Brabus , on the other hand, opted to customize the Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series and managed to obtain an impressive 800 HP and 1,420 Nm available at a low 2,100 rpm. The result is a sprint from 0 to 124 mph in just 9.8 seconds and a top speed limited to 200 mph.

Another aggressive and dominant car concept. Very dynamic and customized, once more this has an attractive interior on its black and red detail scheme. Despite the competition, I’m not bias because there are details that I like here and even like to the other one.

Wow! I like the design and the body paint of the car. It is very luxurious and classy. The engine performance is relatively awesome with a high RPM and V12 engine. I can’t wait to handle this car.

Although its faster than a standard model I would say that its definitely not the fastest production in the market. I would love to see this vehicle compete with other brand aside Mercedes.

The red and black theme looks good on the car though it still looks like a rebadged Mercedes car. The speed performance is kind of impressive and its seems faster in terms of 0-60 mph.

Of course there are a lot of faster custom rides out there, but the looks of this car is actually more than enough to compensate for that. The burgundy really suited it well.

I am really liking what they did on this SL 65 AMG. The color is very subtle, yet makes the car look rather fierce. And of course, all those upgrade parts are definitely something.
