Carlsson

Carlsson will unveil a one-off race car based on the new generation Mercedes SLK-Class at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The new race car will be used in national and international hill climb races in the E1 category, starting 2013 racing season.

The racecar has been developed from scratch on a body shell in an attempt to keep the weight down to only 1,719 pounds. Under the hood, you will find a 3.4-liter V-8 engine that delivers an impressive 610 horsepower and a peak torque of 317 pound-feet. The engine is mated to a Hewland transmission with a paddle shift.

Carlsson also installed an ultra-lightweight body kit made of carbon fiber and a set of BBS racing wheels sized 10-by-18 inches up front and 13-by-18 inches on the rear. A three-way adjustable KW competition suspension keeps the racecar on the tarmac and a high-performance brake system made of ultra-light material to drag it to a halt.

For the interior, the tuner installed a pair of racing seats from Fibreworks and a complex safety cage.

Full details will be unveiled during the car’s official debut in Geneva.

Carlsson unveiled its CK63 RS tuning package last year, but because it is such an amazing car, it still makes quite an impression in the automotive industry. For example, Christian Gebhardt from Sport Auto has conducted a speed test for this updated Mercedes CLS 63 AMG .

The CK63 RS delivers a total of 649 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque, which is a significant increase over the standard 525 ponies and 516 pound-feet of twist. The extra power helps the car to deliver monstrous performance numbers, like a 0-to-60 mph sprint in just 4.1 seconds. What’s even more astounding is the fact that this beast hit a top speed of 333 km/h (207 mph).

Considering the fact that a standard CLS 63 AMG is limited to only 155 mph, that’s one mean mix of modifications Carlsson has put together. Want to see it for yourself, check out the above video. There are plenty of shots of the car and plenty of shots that include the beautiful growl this modded CLS 63 AMG lets out too.

Noted Mercedes-Benz tuner, Carlsson , has just released a new tuning package for the big dog of the Mercedes lineup. The new CML35 is based on the new generation Mercedes ML-Class and will be available for order starting October 1st at a price of 69,900 euro, or about $90,000 at the current exchange rates.

The new CML35 package starts off with a very cool aerodynamic kit which includes a new front apron combined with a Carlsson double headlamp unit with integrated LED daytime running lights and Carlsson grille inserts made of electro-polished stainless steel mesh. Exterior changes also include new side skirts and a new rear apron with a double-inlet sports rear silencer. For the interior, the tuner is offering its customers a choice between any kind of leather, Alcantara, carbon fiber, and wood trims, all of which will set the owner back an additional 4,986 euro (about $6,500 at the current rates).

Under the hood, the 3.0-liter V6 engine’s parameters have been modified so the luxury SUV now delivers a total of 310 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque, up from the standard 240 HP and 455 lb-ft of torque. Next to the engine upgrades, the package also comes with a C-Tronic suspension module that can easily be configured via a Carlsson app.

If you didn’t had the chance to buy one of the 25 Carlsson C25 units, the tuner is now offering you another alternative: the CB 20S. The new package is based on the C-Class Coupe and is significantly cheaper when compared to the C25: prices will start from 34,900 Euro ($43,800), plus 4,986 euro ($6,200) for a customizable leather / Alcantara interior from the Carlsson Signature Line. The new package will be available from September 1st.

The exterior package includes a new front grille with a polished stainless steel grille, a new front spoiler lip made in carbon fiber and a new rear diffuser in conjunction with the Carlsson four-pipe sports exhaust system. The car sits on a new set of 19" alloy wheels combined with Carlsson sport springs.

The CB 20S is based on the entry-level C180 Coupe powered by 1,6 liter four-cylinder engine with an output increased to 201 HP (up from 156 HP). As a result the model will go from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.1 seconds and up to a top speed of 144 mph.

When Chinese car dealer Zhongsheng Group Holdings Ltd bought a 70% stake in Carlsson, we figured that it would only be a matter of time before we saw China-exclusive programs coming out of the German tuning firm. After all, part of the reason why Zhongsheng bought Carlsson was to give German automakers a little more flair in the Chinese market, which has been inundated with these models to the point that they’ve become a little too mainstream. Now, we have the very first program to be born out of that promise: the Mercedes CGL45 Royal Last Edition.

Based on Carlsson’s CGL45 program for the GL-Class , the 45 Royal Last Edition is an exclusive tuning program reserved only for the Chinese market. The CGL45 kit, which was already detailed in these pages, contains a bevy of components made out of high-quality PUR-Rim plastic. These components include wider wheel arches and a new chrome radiator grille with mesh inserts. There’s also an impressive lighting set-up that features a couple of double light units and LED daytime running lights on the front spoiler.

Under the hood of the German SUV, Carlsson gave the CGL45 Royal Last Edition’s 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine a comprehensive engine tuning, increasing the SUV’s output from the standard 265 horsepower and 457 lb/ft of torque figures all the way up to 310 horsepower and 516 lb/ft of torque. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line 5.5-liter V8 model gets a new output of 435 horsepower and 442 lb/ft of torque.

Of course most of you remember the Super GT Carlsson C25 Royale unveiled last year at the Geneva Motor Show. At the launch Carlsson announced that only 25 units will be built. And now the tuner announced that from the 25 units, 7 will be built exclusive for the Chinese market and will be sold as the Carlsson C25 China Limited Edition. All units will be built individually according to the owners’ wishes.

The new C25 China Edition has been built entirely in carbon fiber so that the car is now 396 lbs lighter that the standard C25. Next to this impressive weight reduction the car gets composite braking system, a C-Tronic Suspension chassis with iPhone control, 450 HP V8 engine and a very impressive exhaust system with two massive, all-aluminum tailpipes.

Each customer will have the possibility to choose any possible colo combination so that none of the seven vehicles will be alike.

Each unit will be priced at about $627.000 and only the C25 Limited Edition No. 1 will be transferred by air to Shanghai, all the rest will be hand-manufactured over the next twelve months at Gut Wiesenhof in Merzig.

Carlsson’s newest program for the Mercedes ML-Class will make its world premiere at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show .

Known for some of the best aftermarket Mercedes programs in the world, Carlsson is looking to set the standard for SUV refinement for 2012. For the program, Carlsson has prepared quite the treat for ML-Class owners. There’s an aero package that add bolds styling to the SUV and there’s a performance enhancement that adds more power than you can imagine.

For the aerodynamic kit, Carlsson took the wind tunnel to develop all of the parts, ensuring up-standard quality and engineering. A new front apron was installed, giving the SUV a more masculine look. Grille inserts made of electro polished stainless steel mesh were also added to the chrome radiator grille and the central air inlet. On the side, Carlsson installed new side skirts whereas the rear end gets a new rear apron and the addition of a new stainless steel, double flow rear exhaust resonator. Rounding off the exterior modifications are a new set of 20" Carlsson 1/5 Revo light alloy wheels. Inside, Carlsson went to great lengths to enhance the ML-Class’ amenities. Illuminated door panels have been fitted in, Carlsson door pins were added, and finally, aluminum pedals were included.

For the engine, Carlsson tweaked the ML 350’s C-Tronic control unit, resulting in an increased output on the SUV’s 3.0-liter V6 engine, from 258 horsepower to and 457 lb/ft of torque to an impressive 310 ponies and 516 lb/ft of torque.

The last piece of modification for the ML CD35 involves the installation of Carlsson’s C-Tronic SUSPENSION with iPhone connectivity. Using a simple app from Carlsson, drivers can configure the system to adjust the vehicle height by 30mm to the road conditions within milliseconds, ensuring superior ride comfort for the driver and the passengers alike.

This is not the first tuning package we’ve seen for the new generation SLK-Class , but when it comes to Mercedes models, Carlsson always seems to do an extraordinary job. And their package for the new SLK set to be revealed in Geneva next week is no exception. The new package offers an impressive exterior and interior kit, as well as an increase of 38 HP for the SLK250 version.

For the exterior, Carlsson added a new front spoiler, a carbon fiber RS front spoiler lip, and Carlsson grille inserts made from electro-polished stainless steel. For the rear, the package adds new skirt inserts, a new diffuser, and a new spoiler for increased downthrust. The car sits on a new set of 19" wheels combined with a new suspension system that lowers the car’s ride by 30 millimeters.

For the interior, the tuner put in Nappa Exclusive leather, Carlsson pedal overlays, Carlsson footrests, Carlsson door locking pins made from brushed aluminum, door sill panels, and a glass wind deflector with the laser-printed Carlsson logo.

A CB25 S performance kit takes care of the 1.8 four-cylinder engine by increasing the power from the standard 201 HP to 239 HP. The performance kit was combined with a new stainless steel rear muffler with four oval tailpipes.

So what if the holiday season has come and gone? For some folks, the season extends longer than just the turning of the calendar year and in the spirit of this ’extended’ season, German tuning firm Carlsson has decided to give their CK63 RS some Christmas-themed enhancements.

Their name for it? The CK63 RS Santa Edition. If only Santa used this car instead of his usual sleigh...

The whole idea behind Carlsson building a specially-themed program was to build a concept to present something for the season and, boy, did they ever. The engine specs of the car remain the same as that of the CK63 RS, which means that the car’s 5.5-liter bi-turbo V8 engine saw a noticeable bump in output, from the standard 557 horsepower and 590 lb/ft of torque all the way up to 652 horsepower and 663 lb/ft of torque, with the improvements giving the CLS63 AMG a faster 0-62 mph time of just 4.1 seconds.

Likewise, you’ll also see the same aerodynamic package, one that features a new carbon fiber front spoiler, a new spoiler lip, a new trunk lid spoiler, a rear skirt insert and diffuser, and a new set of 20" Carlsson 1/10 Brilliant Edition lightweight alloy wheels. What makes this special CK63 RS so unique is that it’s been dressed with a Diamond White Metallic paint finish that matches the Nappa Exclusive leather interior trim that comes with a "Santa Red" color.

According to Carlsson, a similar specially-themed CK63 RS will be headed to the 2012 Geneva Motor Show this March, which means that we might have more than just one of these unique bad boys on tap.

Carlsson is considered as one of the best Mercedes tuning companies in the world and when customer calls to have their Mercs customized, they answer with some of the most comprehensive programs on the market.

Recently, Carlsson received a client request to build a program for the Mercedes CLS-Class (C218) and they went to work to provide a comprehensive special aerodynamic and performance package based on one of their recently-released programs.

To ensure that the CLS keeps an agile appearance, Carlsson added a new carbon front spoiler and lip spoiler, as well as black steel grille inserts, on the front of the car. At the rear, the German tuning company went out and dropped a rear spoiler and a rear apron insert with a carbon fiber Carlsson RS rear diffuser, providing that extra downforce to create a more stable driving experience of the car. The package was completed by a new set of 20” Carlsson Design alloy wheels.

Inside, Carlsson’s reputation for excellent craftsmanship was in full display. The German tuner took the interior of this luxury sedan and dressed it up with most luxurious of materials, including leather, Alcantara, carbon fiber, and natural wood. The front seats of the car were re-upholstered with Carlsson’s very own Nappa Exclusive leather while the rest of the interior was given velour floor mats with the Carlsson logo, scuff plates with blue illuminated Carlsson logo, and polished aluminium door locking pins.

This unique one-off Carlsson-tuned CLS-Class was given the same engine set-up as the Mercedes CK63 RS , a model Carlsson introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. Just like that model, this one comes with an engine improvement of up to 649 horsepower and 663 lb/ft of torque, allowing the car to improve its 0-62 mph time from 4.3 seconds to 4.1 seconds.
