The pony car wars are still in full force and the Chevrolet Camaro is on the forefront of every battle. The seasoned muscle car boasts a muscular exterior with sleek lines and a powerful engine mounted behind that familiar face.
The rear-wheel drive Chevrolet Camaro is powered by a 3.6L V6 engine delivering 304hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, but the better choice is found in the 6.2L V8 engine cranking out 400/426hp and 410/420lb-ft of torque. These engines are mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Some say the Chevolet Camaro looks great, others say that it needs some work. For those people, we have proof that things can get incredibly better with a carefully selected collection of accessories with Chevrolet’s Camaro Red Zone Concept to be displayed in SEMA this week. According to the company, this new concept "debuts a new, heritage-inspired stripe graphic that will be available soon."
The first thing anyone will notice about this incredible concept is the Crystal Claret exterior color with black convertible tonneau cover and silver heritage stripe. There is also a new set of Chevrolet Accessories 21x8.5-inch silver/polished-face wheels, Chevrolet Accessories body-color grille, and a convertible wind screen. The interior adds titanium leather interior with Silver Ice accents, a black soft instrument panel insert, Chevrolet Accessories Silver Ice door and instrument panel inserts, and Chevrolet Accessories floor mats with silver "Camaro" logos. To add an even meaner look, the concept has also received a suspension lowering kit by Pedders and a polished strut tower brace.
"This is a Camaro for those who want great looks and a performance personality," said designer Adam Barry. "It’s a simple yet dramatic statement that is uniquely Camaro."
We often associate the quality of a tuning build by the amount of work done by an aftermarket company on a certain car. Using that logic, the boys over at Hess Motorsports did a hell of a job on a Camaro considering that they apparently spent close to $400,000 in research and development just for this car alone.
Some people will call that ridiculous. We call it genius mixed with very, very deep pockets.
Nothing was apparently off limit for this one-off muscle car. We found out that Hess Motorsports left no stones unturned in turning this Camaro into a rollicking piece of madness on four wheels. The exterior was painted with a custom Jet Black finish that was custom brushed with 1st generation strips and clear coated four times over with high-end clear coat. Hess Motorsports also added a new front bumper, grills, side gills, and shaved doors, to name a few of the body modifications done. Even the interior was spent on lavishly, complete with CTS-V Recaro seats, interior Porsche leather, their custom one-off Double Din that was crated from the Cadillac DTS, and HVAC controls with a Pioneer Navigation system.
Then there’s the matter of the engine, it was treated to a hybrid LS9/LS7 7.2-liter powertrain that literally leaves us dumbfounded as to how they managed to accomplish it. The output for the Chevrolet Camaro is being kept under wraps, but considering that what we’ve described is only the tip of the iceberg as far as the full-scale of modifications are concerned, we’re going to hold our breaths until its debut at the 2011 SEMA Auto Show to find out where the full $400,000 went.
Chevrolet’s Camaro "Synergy Series" returns to the 2011 SEMA Auto Show with a different version: a Camaro Convertible. Continuing the special edition Camaro’s participation in SEMA, the Camaro Convertible Synergy Series is getting the best of the best of Camaro accessories.
This year’s model comes dressed to the party with a Silver Ice exterior color with complementing black Synergy stripes on the hood and matching decklid and “mail slot” Synergy gill decals and red line inserts. The car will also come with items from the Chevrolet Accessories program, including a new grille, a new red engine cover body-color ground effects, a Chevrolet-licensed suspension lowering kit from Pedders, and a set of 21" wheels with Red Brembo brake calipers.
Meanwhile, the interior of the Camaro Convertible Synergy Series has been outfitted with black leather and matching red accent stitching on the seats, center console, doors, steering wheel and shifter boot. There’s also a new lighting kit, new ebony floor mats with a “CAMARO” logo stitched in silver, a Hurst short-throw shifter, a Silver Ice instrument panel, an ’SS’ logo with red outline on the head restraints, and a new pedal kit from Chevrolet Accessories.
Just like last year’s Camaro Synergy Series, the 2012 Convertible version is just absolutely to die for. And the word is that Chevrolet will be listening to fan feedback at SEMA to gauge the interest on the car. Be sure to voice your opinions so we can see this one green-lighted for production!
There’s no doubt that there will be Chevrolet Camaros littered throughout the SEMA Auto Show floor in Las Vegas, but one of the most impressive packages will be this Camaro Hot Wheels concept inspired by the Custom Camaro. This dazzling green 1:64-scale toy was part of the original 16 Hot Wheels released in 1968, so its presence at the show was surely felt by the kids at heart in attendance.
In order to present this package, Chevrolet took a Camaro SS and modified it with classic Hot Wheels design cues, including flat-black graphics, red-line wheels, and a dazzling metallic-green finish. No other details have been offered just yet, but this project also comes with a wide range of personalization possibilities, inspiring owners to build their own one-of-a-kind creation.
While the original Hot Wheels cars featured a metallic Spectraflame paint finishes, the Camaro Hot Wheels Concept comes with a brilliant, chrome-style finish. But while for the die-cast models the painting process was very simple: polishing and applying a metallic lacquer to them for the Camaro Concept the concept was much more complicated. The reflective finish was created using Gold Touch Inc.’s Cosmichrome product, starting with the application of a primer coat on an immaculately prepared surface. The primer coat was then sprayed with a liquid-metal solution to create the mirror-smooth, silver-chrome base coat. Afterward, the green tint was applied in several layers until the just-right color effect was achieved.

The Chevrolet Camaro was the most popular vehicle during the 2010 SEMA Auto Show. This year, tuning firms from all over the world are expected to field yet another impressive line of Camaros for all the aftermarket world to gawk at.
That being said, Grip Tuning and Martin Technologies are looking to steal the show with a Camaro Convertible that was born from a joint collaboration between the two companies.
The offspring of the Grip Tuning-Martin Technologies marriage is called the ’Martin Z875,’ a Chevrolet Camaro Convertible that was decked out from front to rear with a bombastic array of set-up and performance modifications.
The overall look of the car certainly speaks for itself. The body kit comes courtesy of Grip Tuning and includes rocket panels, front and rear air dams, and an eye-catching rear deck lid spoiler. Adding to that set-up are a set of Camaro Sports BB5 wheels wrapped in Toyo tires and an interior dressed in a two-color Red and Black finish.
Despite its ostentatious look, the true highlight of the whole package is the performance enhancements done on the American muscle car. Using a custom 426 Ci supercharged and intercooled engine, Martin Technologies was able to bring the output of the Camaro Convertible up to a staggering 875 horsepower, more than double the output of the Camaro’s 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 426 horsepower. On top of the mammoth engine under its hood, Martin Technologies also tweaked the overall powertrain set-up by adding a new camshaft and crankshaft, custom pistons, rods, and a stainless steel high-performance exhaust to complete the overall set-up.
Whether or not you’re a fan of the way it looks, one thing you can’t take away from this custom Camaro is that it packs a mighty punch.
If you get the approval of one Mario Andretti, then you must be doing something right.
Magnaflow, a leading distributor of exhaust products, has produced a special Mario Andretti Edition of the Chevrolet Camaro SS that will be displayed at the 2011 SEMA Auto Show. The Camaro SS was modified with a plethora of aerodynamic changes that include a Street Scene-sourced carbon fiber front splitter and rear diffuser with a center exit exhaust. It also has new side skirts and a 3-piece rear wing, upper grill side ducts with a lower grill, a carbon fiber OE style hood from RKSport, and a set of 20" HRE Performance Wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires. Inside, the Camaro SS was dressed with custom leather seat covers, head rests, arm rests, and center console, custom suede pillars, and a headliner courtesy of Bill Dunn One-Stop-Shop.
On top of all the aerodynamic modifications, the Camaro Mario Andretti Edition also comes with a TVS2300 supercharger, a competition series dual center exit exhaust, and a performance twin-disc clutch, and Pro Street S coil overs from Eibach.
In addition to being displayed at the SEMA Auto Show, the Camaro Mario Andretti Edition will also be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson’s 2012 Scottsdale event with proceeds given to The Wounded Warrior Project.
Next to the Ford Mustang GT 5.0 developed in cooperation with UTi, Tjin Edition will also display an incredible 2012 Chevy Camaro SS Convertible next week at the SEMA Show. This tuned up Camaro was developed with Scott Westreicher in cooperation with Extreme Dimensions.
The Chevrolet Camaro begins its transformation with a Gurnade / Tjin Edition ED body kit consisting of a new front bumper, side skirts, a rear valance, a rear spoiler, a carbon fiber hood, and a deck lid. The car will sit on a new set of 22 Forgestar wheels to match the black double stripe running down the hood of the custom Smurf Blue Dupont painted muscle car.
The special Camaro SS Convertible’s 426 HP LS3 engine also gets a performance boost thanks to a Vortech supercharger and a MagnaFlow Exhaust, but specific output figures have yet to be released. Joining the modifications are an Air Lift suspension, GlowShift gauges, and a custom Unique Fabrication roll cage.
Stay tuned, because we’ll be front and center in Vegas when the 2011 SEMA Auto Show opens its doors!
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering is one of the best Camaro tuners in the world. So when you put that and the fact that the 2011 SEMA Auto Show is fast approaching, you really couldn’t have one without the other, right?
That’s precisely why Lingenfelter will be bringing a number of Camaros to SEMA with one being this L28 Camaro scheduled to compete at the 2011 OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational.
To get this Camaro in tip-top competition shape, the Lingenfelter Camaro comes packed with modifications, including a modified LPE LS7 engine that produces a walloping 681 horsepower at 6,700 rpm and 588 lb/ft of torque at 5,600 rpm, numbers that can easily be competitive without breaking a sweat. Adding to the new engine are plenty of LPE’s own goodies, including a dry sump oiling system, a dual disc clutch & flywheel, a power steering cooler, a twin fuel pump module with electronic control, American Racing headers, a Be Cool Radiator, and a custom side exit exhaust system from Magnaflow. The Camaro L28 also comes with an LPE 9.5" differential with 3.73 gears and a no pre-load TracRite GT helical gear limited slip out back with matching Driveshaft Shop HD 1400 horsepower axle shafts. The suspension set-up features an LPE/Pedders SportsRyder Supercar coil-over system, while LPE sway bars and a set of 20" Forgeline wheels complete the package.
Aesthetically, speaking the Camaro L28 will definitely stand out from the pack, thanks to Lingenfelter’s signature body kit - this includes a front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler - and Specter Werkes’ extractor hood. Inside, LPE did away with the standard seating arrangement and installed Corbeau TRS seats with five-point harnesses surrounded by an RPM six-point roll cage.
We’ve lost count on all of the amazing tuning packages that will be present at the 2011 SEMA Auto Show, but rest assured we’ll be there, cameras clicking away when the show opens its doors on November 1, 2011.
The perks of being a successful NASCAR outfit is having top-tier companies lining up to serve as your sponsor. That’s pretty much how you can describe the partnership between Tony Stewart and his boys at Stewart-Haas Racing and Mobil 1, the world’s leading synthetic motor oil brand.
A few months ago, the two companies joined forces to hold a contest where the grand prize would be a special one-off Chevrolet Camaro Convertible SHR that was customized by the man himself, Tony Stewart.
Dressed in a swanky silver paint finish, the Stewart-tuned Camaro Convertible was the grand prize in the ’Mobil 1 Sweepstakes’ and befitting a (muscle) car of its stature, Stewart and the rest of Stewart-Haas Racing went all out in turning this muscle car into a one-of-a-kind piece of work. On top of getting what we can only assume is a unique custom touch from Stewart himself, the Camaro SHR was also given a list of ’aesthetic improvements,’ including a DUB body kit, flame decals on the side of the Chevrolet emblem, smoked logos on the taillights, a custom Mobil 1 interior, and a set of 22" wheels with state-of-the-art Brembo brakes.
We haven’t heard yet about the lucky dude that will go home with a very special Camaro courtesy of Tony Stewart, but we figure that whoever it is, he’s going to be have to take out those giant horseshoes in his pocket to be able to take his newly-won one-off muscle car out for a spin.
If you thought the Transformers movie franchise did wonders for the Chevrolet Camaro’s marketing appeal, then you best be ready to watch this video because it’s going to blow you away.
We don’t mean that as a kind of hyperbole because that would do a disservice to the people behind this production. The video, which is titled ’Camaro: Heritage’ was made as a collaboration between Camaro5 and Camaro Generations members, to showcase a tribute of sorts for the Camaro heritage.
Over 10 current generation Camaros were featured in the video, as well as one of each past generation Camaro, in what can only be described as one of the most masterful and well-executed non-commercial fan projects we’ve ever seen.
We say that without a hint of exaggeration because this video is better than the hype we’re giving it. It doesn’t even matter if you’re not a fan of the Camaro. There’s actually a good chance that if you’re not, all you need to do is watch this video to turn into one.
