If you have a Chevrolet Camaro->ke248 in your garage and you're thinking of having some fine tuning work done on it, you won't find a better company to give you what you want more than Hennessey Performance->ke1863. The US-based aftermarket company, after all, has been responsible for plenty of tuned-up Camaros, some being more powerful than others. But rest assured, these guys don't pull any punches with their projects, often trying to conjure up ways to make the next program bigger, better, and faster than the last one.

Their newest and baddest tuning kit comes strapped onto the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible and distinguishes itself from the rest by getting a turbocharged 6.2-liter V8 engine to crank out an output of 655 horsepower at 6,300 rpm. This power increase comes hand in hand with upgrades such as a new air induction system, high-flow catalytic converters, and a high-flow fuel injector upgrade, among other things.

Hennessey Performance has certainly earned the distinction of being called one of the best in the business. And like we said, when you're in the market for a Camaro tuning program, these guys will answer all your needs faster than you can say "vroom-vroom!" And that's saying something considering that this Chevrolet->ke199 muscle car is one of the most popular vehicles with tuning firms.

Exterior and Interior

Much like most of Hennessey's projects on the Camaro, the American tuning firm left a lot of it as it was, albeit with a few exceptions. You see, the car may look like a regular Camaro at first glance, but the HPE650 program also features a host of styling improvements, including a special exterior stripe pack, a number of HPE650 exterior badging, serial-numbered dash & engine plaques, an HPE modified engine cover, custom premium leather upholstery, Hennessey premium floormats, Hennessey embroidered headrests, a Hennessey aero kit, a full coilover suspension kit, and a set of new HPE premium lightweight alloy wheels.

Performance

Being that the new Camaro Convertible kit is called the 'HPE650', one may venture a guess that it gets up to 650 HP. How it gets there is the real question. This program comes with plenty of additions to rock anyone's world, including a new TVS2300 supercharger system that's available in either black or chrome finishes. There's also a new air induction system, high-flow cylinder heads, stainless steel long tube headers, high-flow catalytic converters, as well as a high-flow fuel injector upgrade and, last but not least, a little re-tweaking of the car's ECU.

The end result of all the upgrades is a car whose 6.2-liter V8 engine can crank out an output of 655 horsepower, @ 6,300 rpm. which is a shot up from the standard 426 ponies.

Pricing

Pricing for the HPE650 package is subject to inquiries, although we fully expect it to be around the range of somewhere north of $15,995, which is what the package for the HP600 sells for. Add that to the price of the Camaro - a base model hits $40,500 - and you're looking at a complete package of somewhere around $60,000.

Competition

Hennessey's wide variety of tuning programs for the Camaro hits all the way up to 1,000 horsepower, but whatever your preference is, Hennessey offers some of the best Camaro programs on the market. Whether it's the base program that provides an upgrade of up to 475 horsepower, or the aforementioned HPE1000 machine that will knock your socks off the second you floor the pedals, the perfect Camaro upgrade for any fan is readily available. It is these wide array of tuning kits for the Camaro that put Hennessey Performance in a class all their own.
