The Cruze already has a pretty decent “globalized” look to it from the factory that is better than the outgoing Cobalt. Sold in over 60 countries worldwide, this car represents a sizable part of GM’s global market share, meaning it has to be very good to meet the demands of consumers – and it is. The 1.4 liter turbocharged 4-pot under the bonnet provides sufficient power whilst still maintaining great gas mileage. But as we on TopSpeed know, like anything else from the factory, it could be better, and that’s why the Z-Spec Concept has been created.

Chevrolet->ke199 wanted to create a unique showcase of an Americanized, sporty-looking Cruze, fitted with a range of factory-engineered parts to set it apart from your average model. More and more people are customizing their vehicles and Chevy have now created a means for their customers to do so through the Z-Spec. One of the cool features apart from the additions to the car itself, is that all these accessories are available as optional parts from your dealer, meaning you can build their cost into your monthly repayments. We particularly like that.

Exterior Mods

As mentioned earlier, we like the look of the Cruze, and the chaps down at Ground Effects have done their best to enhance the look. The Z-Spec features a full plastic bodykit, comprising of front and rear bumper add-ons, side skirts, and a rear spoiler. We’re not sold on the new Dark SpectraFlair Orange paint job, but you never know, it could grow on you. The sporty look is complimented by light weight 19” BBS wheels, a custom go-faster stripe, and the street racer vinyls down the side. The rear diffuser is a welcome functional piece that adds a bit more menace to the overall look.

Interior Mods

The interior is actually our favorite part of the Cruze and sees quality race-inspired goodies making their way into the mix. The most notable of which are the Recaro bucket seats and flat-bottomed steering wheel, complete wheel with Z-Spec logo. The entire interior has been re-trimmed in matching leather with custom embroidered Z-Spec floor mats, giving a quality to feel to the cabin.

Performance Mods

The little 1.4 liter turbo lump isn’t exactly gonna set your pants on fire. The Z-Spec designers have called upon some of the most reputable names in the game to help give the Cruze a little more poke. Borla have pitched in with a performance exhaust that’ll no doubt free up some horses and sound good while doing it, while induction specialist K&N have designed a cold air intake system as well. Helping to keep those extra ponies in check is a complete Brembo brake kit that looks right at home behind the BBS wheels. The car also handles better and sits closer to the ground thanks to a Pedders sport suspension setup that gives the Cruze the sporty facet it was missing.
