Now that Pontiac->ke70 has officially bitten the dust, it certainly seems like an appropriate time for aftermarket tuners to pay homage to the brand, a tribute of sorts for the automaker that stamped its name in automotive history for the past 84 years before being recently axed.

One company certainly didn’t waste any time doing so, and they even proudly showed it off at SEMA. Similar to the concept vehicle that was proudly displayed last year at SEMA, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering took a Chevrolet Camaro->ke248, reworked it as a tribute to the iconic Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, and proudly named it as the Lingenfelter LTA. In case you don’t know, that LTA stands for Lingenfelter Trans Am. Nice touch, fellas. Very nice touch.

INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR

Make no mistake, despite having Camaro-sourced underpinnings, the Lingenfelter LTA’s body is unmistakably Trans Am. Even better, the car’s styling is completely inspired by the look of the Trans Am, giving it a sharp and none-too-discreet retro look. From the shaker hood – it’s fully functional, by the way – to the front fender vents, to the ducktail rear spoiler and those honeycomb 20-inch wheels, Lingenfelter’s LTA concept could pass off as a new-age 1971 Trans Am.

For the interior, Lingenfelter continues the nostalgic approach by dressing up the LT-A with a number of old school features that harken back to the day when the Trans Am was the epitome of cool. Among the additions include dressing up the entire interior in vinyl while also adding aluminum on the dashboard.

PERFORMANCE

Lingenfelter made no bones about giving the LTA some serious noise-making power, putting in a Racing Head Service aluminum block with a 455 cubic-inch V8 engine under its hood that produces a whopping 655 horsepower and 610 lb/ft of torque. In addition to that, Lingenfelter gave the LTA some much-needed modifications to give the car a thorough muscle flavor.

PRICING

While the LTA is already classified as nearing production, the vehicle’s sticker price is still unknown at the moment.

COMPETITION

Judging from all the tuned-up Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Camaros in attendance at SEMA, the popular belief is that the Lingenfelter LTA is going to have some serious competition in its hands. But seeing as most of the tuned-up muscle cars are regarded as concepts, the LTA's eventual road to the production line significantly thins out the competitors.
