Have you noticed how more and more pickup trucks have come to match regular cars in terms of fancy, luxurious convenience features and technology ? Gone are the days when trucks used to feature a simple dash, a vinyl-wrapped bench, and roll-down windows. Nowadays, truck drivers travel in comfy leather seats and benefit from infotainment systems and other electronic gadgets. Heck, the 2015 Ford F-150 can even be had with massaging seats. The trend isn’t exactly new, however. Back in the 1970s, Detroit began offering visual features initially available on muscle cars on its trucks too. The second-gen Chevy C/K, for instance, was offered with the same Rally wheels and stripes that could be ordered on the Camaro . And it looked downright cool, too. Fast forward to 2015, Chevrolet is expanding the Silverado lineup with a Rally Edition model.
Although unrelated to the aforementioned C/K, the Silverado Rally Edition is only about enhanced visuals. The two distinct packages, available on 1500 Double Cab and Crew Cab pickups, add a tad of fancy to Chevy’s bread-and-butter truck without meddling with its drivetrain. Read on to find out what makes this special-edition Silverado special.

The bundle adds a body-colored grille, and blacked-out Chevrolet bowtie logo, door handles and mirror caps. The truck’s exterior is rounded off by a pair of black rally stripes. The LT benefits from the Rally 1 package too, but in addition to the features available on the LS, it also gets a set of 17-inch aluminum wheels, a trailering pack with a hitch and locking rear differential, rear defroster, and a backup camera.
Limited to the LT trim, the Rally 2 package comes with even more goodies. The twin black rally stripes on the hood and tailgate are available with the Rally 2 Edition pack too.
The base engine for the Silverado Rally trucks is the 4.3-liter V-6 that comes with 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque and towing capabilities of up to 7,200 pounds. Should you need more power, Chevy has the 5.3-liter V-8 waiting on the options list. Double Cab Rally Edition trucks can be ordered starting September 2014, while Crew Cabs go on sale starting October.
