We already know Chevrolet->ke199 is working on a new-generation Camaro slated to arrive sometime in 2015 for the 2016 model year. The pony has already hit the Nurburgring->ke999 track for high-speed testing, but not much is known about it. Meanwhile, GM is also working on bidding farewell to the current Camaro by launching yet another special-edition muscle car. Based on the SS trim, the custom Camaro is set to break cover at the 2014 SEMA Show->ke216 in Las Vegas before arriving at dealers in the first quarter of 2015. Like most special-edition Camaros, the SEMA version sports an exclusive exterior paint and many other unique features.

There's only one problem with it for the moment. It needs a name. This is why Chevrolet is inviting you to name its new special-edition Camaro through the #NameThatCamaro campaign. The contest requires you to write your name suggestion on Chevy's Twitter or Facebook page with the tag #NameThatCamaro. No specific deadline has been announced, but the automaker says the winning name will be announced in November at the SEMA Show, so make sure you submit your entry. But until you do that, read on to find out what makes this Camaro special.

Chevrolet Camaro SS Special Edition in detail

The first thing that catches the eye is the vehicle's Emerald Green Metallic paint job. The hue is exclusive to this Camaro, which comes in 2SS trim and in either a coupe or convertible. In addition to the color, the special-edition Camaro also features an RS Appearance Package that includes high-intensity discharge headlamps, LED taillamps, an RS front grille, body-color roof moldings and a body-color antenna. The SS hood extractor, usually finished in black, also comes in Emerald Green Metallic, as do the ground effects package and the ZL1 rear spoiler. Rounding off the car's exterior are 21-inch wheels finished in Chrome Dusk and Cyber Gray rally stripes. Unique indeed!

Things are a bit simpler inside, where customers will find a black-themed cabin with Graphite Silver door panels and instrument panel inserts. Chevrolet also throws in a dual-mode exhaust, navigation system and a Chevrolet Performance short-throw shifter. The convertible model will feature a black top, while the coupe can be had with an optional sunroof.

Although both the exterior and the interior are packed with unique features, everything remains stock under the hood. The special-edition Camaro is motivated by the familiar, naturally aspirated, 6.2-liter V-8 rated at 426 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque with the manual transmission or 400 ponies and 410 pound-feet with the six-speed auto transmission.
