Part of the fun at SEMA->ke216 are the lifestyle builds automakers do. This 2015 Colorado is no different. Set and ready to pull its matching Super Air Nautique 210 wakeboarding boat, this Colorado comes with a unique bed solution that helps thrill seekers store their boards while on the road.

Both the truck->ke1311 and the Nautique 210 boat are painted the same shade of Orange Metallic Flake with black accents. Chevy->ke199 is also quick to point out the 4,200-pound boat and its 1,000-pound trailer are well within the Colorado’s 7,000-pound towing capacity.

While the truck only received an external makeover, we’ve got to admit the look is really cool. The paint scheme is certainly unique and would earn plenty of attention at the lake. This particular Colorado features all the optional mechanical options Chevy offers. It’s powered by the 3.6-liter V-6, has four-wheel-drive, the Eaton G80 locking rear differential, and rides on factory-supplied, 18-inch wheels.

Other options include the Z71 Off Road package that comes with extra skid plates, the powder-coated side steps, and front-mounted tow hooks.

Exterior

The Orange Metallic Flake paint with black accents on the roof and rocker panels are the first things this Colorado uses to catch your eye. Next are the matching 18-inch black wheels with the unique bed cover to follow. That bed cover is rather important to this build. Its tonneau cover features slots for mounting wakeboards or any other sporting equipment above the bed’s surface, leaving the enclosed bed space for extra storage.

Like all Colorados, this one has the integrated bumper side steps, making getting in and out of the bed an easy task. No folding ladders required. The box also has the same 13 tie-downs for securing items as the conventional Colorado bed while a sprayed-in bed liner keeps everything protected from damage.

Interior

Things inside the Colorado are all standard fare. The truck enjoys an integrated touchscreen with Chevy’s MyLink infotainment software. Bluetooth hands free calling and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot makes using smart devises easy. The truck features Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Alert safety systems, along with such standard features like dual-stage airbags for both front passengers.

With the truck being a four-door crew cab, four passengers have room to spread out while the center seat in the second row gives the ability to carry a total of five passengers.

Drivetrain

Under the hood lies the largest engine offered in the Colorado: a 3.6-liter V-6 making 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Two-wheel-drive, V-6-equipped Colorados see an EPA-estimated 26 mpg highway while four-wheel-drive models suffer just slightly.

This Colorado also has GM’s six-speed automatic transmission and shift-on-the-fly, four-wheel-drive transfer case. An Eaton G80 locking rear differential keeps both rear wheels spinning at the same speed when traction becomes an issue.

Prices

Chevy has not announced what this particular Colorado would cost with all its added accessories, but pricing for a more conventional Colorado is at hand. The base price of a four-cylinder, extended cab truck starts at $20,120 while the top-line crew cab Z71 with a V-6 starts at roughly $35,290.

Conclusion

This lifestyle build is a rather attractive, with its two-tone paint, one-off bed system, and its matching wakeboarding boat. Technically customers could build their own Colorado just like this, save for the bed system, but it would be more fun if Chevy actually offered it as a package. That won’t likely happen, but it’s still fun to dream.

We just look forward to the rebirth of the midsize truck category. Welcome back, Colorado and Canyon.
