Chrysler is further expanding their 300 line-up with the addition of the new 300S models, offered in both V6 and V8 versions. The new models will arrive at Chrysler dealerships in the fall of 2011. "No chrome . . . no wood . . . matte carbon fiber finishes . . . unique black or Radar Red leather . . . our biggest wheels, and world’s first integration of Beats by Dr. Dre audio technology – the best standard audio system period. This is the new Chrysler 300S and it has an attitude that comes through loud and clear," said Olivier Francois, President and CEO — Chrysler Brand and Lead Executive for Marketing, Chrysler Group LLC. "For the Chrysler brand, it’s not just about design, it’s about substance. And with the Chrysler team working with Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine for months, I know the new 300S with its mapped sound waves, designed algorithms and unique Beats Audio components are a direct result from our model collaboration – a partnership between an OEM and the music industry – that makes the 300S perform with the power to play music as the artist intended it to be heard." The exterior and the interiorThe new 300S edition will be distinguished by unique body-color fascia accents and mirrors, and black-accented headlamp bezels with matching sculpted horizontal grille blades in black chrome. The car will sit on a new set of 20-inch polished-face aluminum wheels with black painted pockets and wider all-season performance tires. On the interior the 300S models will add an athletic-luxury theme with 12-way power driver and passenger front seats with large-bolstered and heated monotone cloth sport seats surrounded by an interior environment in black or Radar Red. Piano Black will be used on the center stack, instrument panel, steering wheel, gauge cluster and door panel elements provide a uniquely lacquered and highly detailed appearance. Completing the enthusiast-designed interior are matte carbon hydrographic finished accents, replacing traditional burl wood. The engineThe base model will be powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar engine that delivers a total of 292 HP mated to an all-new segment-exclusive ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The top version will get a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine that delivers 363 HP and is mated to a a five-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and Auto Stick, performance-tuned suspension and larger performance disc brakes. PricesThe 2012 Chrysler 300S letter-series will arrive at Chrysler dealerships in the fall of 2011. The competitionThe new Chrysler 300S will take on models like the Dodge Charger, the Volvo S80, and even the Audi A6 or Infiniti M. But while all the prices are almost the same, driving a 300 is simply not the same thing as driving an A6. Almost every model in the competitor list offers a more luxurious interior and a better driving experience. The Charger features the same 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine as the 300S V8, the S80 features an entirely new twin-turbo five-cylinder 2.4-liter turbodiesel that delivers a total of 205 HP, while the Infiniti M gets a 420 HP 5.6 Liter VVEL Direct Injected V8 engine. You will easily notice that the 300S is not the less powerful nor the most powerful model on the market. But the S version will add some features that will bring the 300 model a little bit closer to its competitors. The S models add a few more elegance to the line-up Better equipped Two engine options Is still not as impressive as the competitors 16 comments: Chrysler 300S Yeah, I would agree that this one is a bit underpowered at just over 200 horsepower, I which they could ramp it up a bit. Same thing goes for the top end model.
I like the design of this car it looks so classy and luxurious though I think that the engine is not that powerful.
This Chrysler car looks like a Audi in the front. BTW, I don’t think that the engine of this car is kind of powerful. I find the competitor more powerful compare to this one.
Well, one thing that I am hoping with this one is that it isn’t going to be that much pricey. But, considering the features here, it would still be a bit on the high side.
Well, the specs on this one is really rather impressive. But then again, what can you expect from Chrysler? They really made good on their statement here.
