We admit that a teaser photo of a wheel, albeit a pretty sick-looking one at that, isn't much to go by. But Citroen doesn't believe so, which is why it sounds so excited promoting the upcoming debut of the model they've christened the DS 5LS.

There's not much to go by with the teaser apart from the slick alloys and the fact that Citroen has described the model as a "new premium class sedan".

So, it's a luxury->ke505 car that will likely have all the bells and whistles typically found in vehicles of its segment. We admit that the curiosity of seeing this model when it makes its debut is making us believe that the DS 5LS sedan will be one that will be talked about by a lot of people in the days leading up to the debut and even well after that.

It's also worth pointing out that this model could be another vehicle for the Chinese->ke2090 market, the only place in the world where Citroen's DS->ke3360 line is marketed as a stand-alone brand. Maybe there's more to it that we still don't know about.

The good thing is we won't have to wait too long to find out if these fancy alloys are the highlight of the entire vehicle, or a part of something really, really awesome.

We're hitching our wagons on the latter and crossing our fingers that we won't be disappointed.

2011 Citroen DS5

The last time Citroen introduced a model bearing the DS5 name, it was at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show. Unlike the promise of a "premium sedan" in the DS 5LS, that DS5 came in the form of a crossover, leading us to think that Citroen made an about-face on how it wanted to package the bigger brother of the DS3 and DS4.

The 2011 DS5 did have a lot of things going for it, not the least of which was a design that the French automaker described as a "daring and sculptural creation perfectly expresses the DS spirit, namely bold choices on styling, architecture, sensations and refinement, while implementing the best in Citroën technology".

The overall design of that vehicle was pretty impressive, and the wheels it had bear a striking similarity to what the teaser of the DS 5LS is showing us. Nevertheless, we're still of the belief that this new baby is a different model altogether, possibly a sedan version of the DS5.

Either way, it's making for some interesting speculative guesses.
