Citroen unveiled at the Paris Auto Show the second generation Stop & Start technology. It was displayed using this white and orange C3 Picasso. The new technology will be introduced in 2010 and will be available on a range of gas and diesel models.
The special show car offers even better economy than the standard model with almost 70mpg on the combined cycle as well as low CO2 emissions of just 110g/km thanks to the new Stop & Start technology and six-speed EGS (Electronic Gearbox System). When the new C3 Picasso is launched in 2009, diesel versions will be fitted with a Particulate Filter System and will meet the Company’s green ‘Airdream’ criteria (CO2 emissions below 130 g/km when running on gas, under 158 g/km if the vehicles is running on diesel.)
The new-generation Stop & Start system will retain the combined alternator-starter unit, which Citroen claims provides quiet, smooth and almost instantaneous restarts, and will produce even better fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Improving the system’s environmental performance further, the new generation Stop & Start will also recover energy during braking and deceleration to recharge the vehicle’s battery without consuming fuel.

2009 is the 60th anniversary of the Citroen 2CV (deux chevaux): the quirky little car that got France on wheels and is as iconic to Citroen as the original Beetle is to Volkswagen. To commemorate this anniversary, Citroen decided to give the little budget-minded car an upgrade. The company chosen by Citroen to design this edition was Hermes, the well-known French designer whose last automotive project was the slightly more upscale Bugatti Veyron FBG by Hermes.
The 1989 Citroen 2CV 6 Special chosen for the project was one of the latest produced models (production was finally stopped in 1990.) This includes a new repainted body in brown. Inside there is a natural leather trim on the door panels, interior rearview mirror, new gear knob, steering wheel and seats.
This 2CV better be something good to look at. The 29 hp on tap from the 602cc two cylinder engine means it isn’t going anywhere fast.

Remember the funky C-Cactus Concept Citroen unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show? According to the company, this environmentally-friendly prototype will go into production, although they didn’t announced exactly when this will happen.
The concept is a pure electric vehicle, but the production version will also be offered with the company’s latest engine from the group: a four cylinder engine that delivers 70 to 100 horsepower and less than 100 g / km CO2.
Citroen says they will still create an electric version that will be powered by a lithium-ion battery with a range of up to 150 kilometers (93 miles). The top speed is up to 110 km/h (68 mph).
Innovative? Possibly. Pretty? NO. This is one of those cars that we can admire from a far and be glad that Citroen will not be cluttering the roads of North America with this one.

These are the first snapshots of the newly launched GTbyCITROËN in the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. The concept car was unveiled yesterday at the Paris Auto Show and developed cooperation with in Polyphony, designer of the driving simulation game Gran Turismo 5.
The GT is powered in the game by an electric motor powered by fuel cells that release no emissions. Maybe Citroen will be able to utilize this powerplant in a real car someday, but until then, the game will have to do.

Citroen unveiled at the Paris Auto Show the C4 WRC HYmotion4 concept car, the first WRC car to be equipped with a hybrid energy recovery system which delivers added performance and lower emissions.
These real performance gains have been achieved thanks to the innovative technological solutions which have been developed to transform the C4 WRC into the C4 WRC HYmotion4.
The Citroen C4 WRC HYmotion4 is powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that delivers 320bhp at 5,500rpm and 58mkg of torque at 2,750rpm.

We finally get to see the whole car! Designed for the Gran Turismo 5, the GT by Citroen Concept made its official debut ahead of the Paris Auto Show. As Citroen calls it a "style replica of a vehicle from the digital world", that translates into likely a non-running styling concept. The car seems to be built to look good while playing Gran Turismo. The rear end is oversized, made exaggeratedly long in order to create an effect of retinal persistence. The idea is to make the concept car even faster visually. The white-to-grey gradation on the body side further underlines this impression of continuous movement.
Further proof that this is more of a dream car than a real car is that the GT is powered in the game by an electric motor powered by fuel cells that release no emissions. But dreaming is fun. No word yet on what, if anything, is powering the actual concept car.
