In September at the Frankfurt Motor Show we have seen the Citroen Revolte concept. It’s design previews a reborn version of the legendary Citroen 2CV: a compact hatchback called DS2 that will debut in 2012.
The 2010 DS2 will feature a more conventional double-chevron grille, larger headlights and a narrower track. From the classic 2CV it will barrow the bonnet creases, arching roofline and flat back end.
The DS2 will be built on the current C3 platform and will use the same engines as it. The range will include a range of fuel-efficient three-cylinder petrol motors and a 70bhp 1.4 HDi diesel one.
It looks very familiar, but its pretty new. Its the future Citroen C-Zero - a new a 100% electric, zero CO2 emissions and zero noise vehicle, set to be released in the last-quarter 2010.
The C-ZERO is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 64 bhp EEC from 3,000 to 6,000 rpm and 180 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear axle via a single-speed reduction gear. The motor is powered by a latest-generation 330-volt lithium-ion battery system comprising 88 50-Ah cells (for onboard energy of 16 kWh) mounted in the center of the vehicle.
The car is the perfect vehicle for trips under 30 km. It takes only just 30 minutes for a 80% recharge, and six hours for a complete charge.
Citroen sure knows how to take advantage of the latest in video technology. In a bid to promote their latest hatchback the DS3, the French manufacturer has resorted to a video-game style feature that allows you to take control of a DS3 from a piece of printed out interactive pages that you have in your hands.
All you need to do is go to Citroen’s website, print out the pages, and hold them in front of your webcam. What follows is a unique interactive program that allows you to muss over the DS3 and place it in different situations, including one where you can take it out for a nice drive with the piece of paper you’re holding as your very own steering wheel.
It’s a fun way to get acquainted with Citroen’s latest hatchback. The quick tutorial at the company’s website is easy enough to get you up to speed with what you need to do to give this a shot.
Lost amidst all the centennial celebrations from car manufacturers this year is Citroen, the French auto brand who’s celebrating its 90th year out on the market.
To commemorate the occasion, Citroen is releasing a 90-second video highlighting the company’s achievements and a number of unforgettable marketing and advertising ploys, including posting a billboard on the Eiffel Tower for the better part of a decade and even having the participation of no less than the Pope.
It’s a cool video from a French carmaker known for its quirkiness. Check it out.
The photo is a little too grainy for our liking; nevertheless, we’ll take it any way we can get it. From what we’ve gathered, the photo looks a lot like the production version of the new Citroen C-Cactus, which company officials have said will go out on the market in 2012.
The cute and compact vehicle will come with a 1.4 HDi diesel engine that has been carefully tagged with its own electric motor, with rumors also circulating that Citroen is in the works for an all-electric version down the road. After debuting at the Frankfurt Motor Show a few years back, Citroen has spent the better part of two years developing a production version of the car that would be both affordable and eco-friendly. Though it took longer than we all expected, it looks like Citroen has finally reaped the fruits of its labor.
Whether or not it translates to positive sales won’t be determined until a couple of years. Then again, progress is as progress gets.
The French automaker Citroen has just unveiled the Revolte concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Revolte is a compact city car that combines the upmost luxury with a touch of fashionable fun. The Revolte concept is not very big in size, measuring in at 3.68 meters long, 1.73 meters wide and 1.35 meters tall and features a three seater cabin design.
The Revolte is powered by a rechargeable hybrid drivetrain that consists if a small displacement conventional combustion engine combined with an electric motor, with a battery supplying the electric motor with juice and both power plants able to drive the wheels. The French concept has no CO2 emission and also features a practical and quiet ride with a high level of driving comfort.
The Revolte is all about extreme colors and interesting materials, like: woven black leather, thick crimson velvet and gleaming aluminum. Inside of the Revolte you won’t find the conventional materials like the traditional wood offerings and ordinary colors. The cabin incorporates a very contemporary meridian sofa whose flowing lines cover the entire rear area of the concept as well as the space that is typically reserved for the front seat passenger. In this case, the passenger sitting in the third seat can stretch his or her legs and enjoy the sensations offered by the cosy, luxurious ambiance.
The world of rally racing is filled with edge of your seat excitement and some of the most fearless drivers in the world. In this particular instance it was the Russian rally driver Evgeny Novikov who managed to make his co driver pray to the deity of his choice as their yellow Citroen C4 was sent skyward after launching off a jump with a little too much zest during a special stage in the recent WRC Rally Finland.
Sometimes, people just become too creative for their own good. While we applaud those who exercise their creative freedom – especially in tuning concept cars – we believe that it’s always a good idea to not go overboard.
In the case of this car – do we even call it one? – maybe it would have been best to err on the side of on conservativeness. But the folks over at NImik definitely had other plans. They created this: the ‘2CV Nimik’. The name, by itself, is reason enough for us to question the sanity of these guys but they sure did themselves one better. The Italian firm built this ‘vehicle’ by placing the casings of a Citroen 2CV on top of – get ready for this – a Ferrari F355.
Wrecking a perfectly good Ferrari just so you can put a Citroen on top of it to make a vehicle that’s too confusing to describe definitely puts the ‘2CV Nimik’ on top of the list of worst customizations in the history of the world.
To be fair, the ‘vehicle’ does come with a Ferrari-powered V8 engine and it is unique for aesthetic reasons. But we just can’t get over the fact that sitting under that Citroen was once a Ferrari F355.
Citroen has recently revealed the C-Cactus concept a couple of years ago at the 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Due to this funky looking compact car’s warm reception from the public, the French automaker is seriously considering turning the concept car into full fledged production vehicle.
The C-Cactus is powered by a 70 HP HDi diesel engine combined with a particulate filter to clean the noxious gasses and an electric motor for additional propulsion, to the tune of 30 HP. The C-Cactus consumes slightly over 69 miles per gallon of diesel over a combined driving cycle; while emitting a very Euro important 78 g/km of CO2. If the U.S. can ever learn to accept the benefits of clean diesel technology we too could benefit from these efficient little machines.
The French automaker Citroen has finally decided to bring the videogame inspired GT Concept super car into production. Citroen will produce a limited run of only six units, priced for sale at $1.8 Million each. The dream machine will be ready in time to make its official debut this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany.
Citroen spokespersons have said that most of the concept’s features should make it through to the final production version, including the carbon-fiber construction and eccentric interior details such as the copper trim. The only question remaining is what will Citroen use to power their curvilinear machine. Rumors have said that it will be a V8 from either Ford or GM, making at least 500 HP. However there will be no official announcement until this September.
