It looks like the Sport Quattro won’t be the only concept Audi will display at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show . Don’t be shocked at how familiar this concept looks, as Audi teamed up with Italdesign Giugiaro — the same folks that brought you the wildly styled 2014 Parcour — to develop this model.

The new nanuk concept is a two-door crossover powered by a V-10 TDI engine, and If you remember, this is not the first concept offered by Audi to feature a TDI engine. We saw a TDI-powered concept at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show where Audi unveiled the R8 V12 TDI concept . This makes us hope that the previously rumored R8 TDI supercar could become a reality after all, especially if you take a closer look at the output delivered by the nanuk.

As "Nanuk" is no ordinary name, and Audi didn’t bother to offer us any explanation on choosing it, we did a little research and found out that in Inuit mythology Nanuk ("Nanook") was the master of bears, who decided if the hunters deserved success in finding and hunting bears. Trying to figure out what this has to do with cars is enough to make your head spin, but car naming has become a rather odd thing in recent years.

Rolls-Royce decided to pay tribute to nature at the upcoming 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show , as the British company will unveil the Phantom Celestial Concept. As it name suggest, it was inspired by the night sky and all its twinkly stars.

The concept is based on the Phantom Extended Wheelbase version and features a dark paintwork with glass particles to increase the sparkle effect, of course.

he interior is wrapped in a special "Dusk" leather that creates the effect of a "cloudless night sky." The concept was also equipped with a clock that features a diamond at each quarter-hour and engraved wheel centers. The concept comes equipped with a picnic set that includes glasses with a celestial motif.

What is very special on the interior is that the rear drink compartment has been specifically designed to reflect the stars in the headlining. This way you can enjoy the stars while relaxing in your seat.

The 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show is just one week away and Renault just dropped a teaser image of a new concept car it will displayed at the show. According to the first details, the new concept car "embodies Renault’s vision of Premium motoring," and it will be one of the six concepts that the French company will have at the show.

While Renault didn’t offer any other details on the concept, we hope that it will preview the next sports car set to be developed in cooperation with Caterham: the Alpine . What we can see from this teaser image is that the concept will feature aggressively shaped headlights that feature "Eyelight" technology.

The new Renault concept will be unveiled on the Renault stand (Hall 8) at 1:30pm on Tuesday, September 10th.

Smart production cars don’t leave too much in the way of the imagination. But as far as its concepts are concerned, the Daimler-owned company has produced some pretty interesting design studies in the past couple of years.

Two, in particular, that stand out are the Smart Forstars Concept and the Smart For-Us Concept . At the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show , Smart is unveiling yet another concept vehicle, one that appears to be more audacious than anything the company has done outside the Forspeed Concept .

The vehicle is called the FourJoy Concept and really, it’s hard to come up with an appropriate adjective to describe this door- and rear window-less vehicle.

The easiest way to probably do it is to say that it’s "unique" and even saying that requires some loose definition of the word. In the end, though, this is the kind of thing we’ve come to expect from Smart when it comes to concept vehicles.

Land Rover and Jaguar announced a collaboration to develop a new ‘Range Rover Evoque _e’ research project that tests new hybrid and battery-electric vehicle (BEV) technology. The research required a total of £16.3 million (about $25 million at the current exchange rates), and was supported by UK’s innovation agency the Technology Strategy Board.

Along with Jaguar and Land Rover, the Evoque_e’s development required the an additional 12 partners, including: Zytek Automotive, GKN Driveline, Motor Design Limited, AVL, Drive System Design, Williams Advanced Engineering, Delta Motorsport, Tata Steel, Bristol University, Cranfield University and Newcastle University.

The Nissan Maxima ’s replacement is finally on track for arrival next fall as a 2015 or early-2016 model, with a shift in focus toward performance to better differentiate Nissan’s flagship sedan from the popular (but bland) Altima sedan.

Exclusive TopSpeed Renderings show a speculative preview of this hot new sports sedan, which looks to shake off the front-drive proportions and goofy grin in favor of a wider, lower and meaner style like the 370Z and GT-R .

Nissan’s sports car lineup has never been this strong, and continued support for the company’s two tiers of performance cars has really helped the brand’s image, despite being diluted from selling millions of basic Sentra’s and Versa econoboxes to pay the bills.

The Maxima was really at a crossroads before this current re-alignment to its 4DSC roots. The next generation was even mooted to go the full EV route, with the cab-forward styling of the 2011 Nissan Ellure concept thought to be previewing both the just-launched Altima and next Maxima.

Another option on the table would adapt the 370Z’s latest chassis for use in a rear-drive sedan, or even a stretched GT-R of our dreams. These two scenarios are far less likely than a continued front-drive layout, but low and dramatic proportions that evolve the boring Nissan look very nicely.

Keeping the existing Maxima layout is a safe bet because it is the only way to continue the current model’s $31,000 to $36,000 price range. Nissan ’s ability to sell a volume sedan for more than $40,000 is less than a sure thing, especially with Infiniti ’s billion-dollar name changes and new Q50 sedan to replace the G37.

Click past the jump for a closer look at these exclusive renderings, with the 2015 Nissan Maxima debuting as soon as this fall or winter at one of the major auto shows.

The growing market for up-scale sedans has prompted a lot of automakers to step up their game in order to keep up with the times. European car brands have no need to worry because these models are already part of their vehicular lineups.

But for an American brand, like Ford , looking to gain some traction in a market ripe with premium competitors, it needed to step up.

And step up it did.

At the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show , Ford will introduce the Mondeo Vignale Concept, a premium and luxurious take of its European midsize sedan . The concept is Ford’s answer to calls from customers asking to see if the Blue Oval can offer them a vehicle that answers their checklist of styling and quality, advanced technology, and exclusivity.

For the most part, Ford has answered that call with the intention of bringing the Vignale Concept to production in the near future, making it only a matter of time before it enters a market ripe with competition and stakes a name for itself.

The new-generation Maserati Quattroporte made its debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show will bring us the Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Limited Edition — a concept car that brings an "unique new look in color scheme, materials and finish." According to Maserati, a production version is expected to arrive in 2014.

As it name suggests, the concept was designed in cooperation with Ermenegildo Zegna — an Italian luxury fashion house, specialized in men’s clothing. The concept is painted in a special finish that uses ultra-fine aluminum pigments and simulates the fluidity and purity of metal. For the interior, the concept adds classical warm hues, like moka and greige — key colors in Zegna’s latest men’s fashion collections.

Maserati wrapped the seats, door panels and roof lining in genuine soft leather, while Zegna added a velvet-smooth, bright fabric.

Toyota’s promise of showcasing its Le Mans hybrid technology on a road car will come to fruition at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show , as it prepares to unveil the Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R Concept.

This new concept may seem unimposing when you read that it is based on a Yaris — blah — but save your judgement for something else because this is one sick miniature hatchback. With a TS030 -inspired drivetrain in tow that cranks out in excess of 400 ponies, this is not your typical grocery getter.

This bad boy will likely give plenty of supercars a run for their money while hauling a few gallons of milk, a loaf of bread and laundry detergent all at the same time. All of the details are not available yet, but Toyota has released all that we need to know to be able to chalk this one up and a certified bad-ass.

Toyota will unveil the concept on September 10th at 12:45 p.m. in Hall 8.

If Lexus wanted to make a splash at Frankfurt with its LF-NX Concept, it sure did pick a good design to get it done.

Redefining — yet again — what we’ve come to expect from its new and drastically improved design language, the Japanese automaker has once again thrown us all for a loop with its latest concept vehicle.

Suffice to say, the LF-NX Concept looks like its going to be one of the most popular cars that will be at Frankfurt next week. It looks absolutely stunning, combining its mean visage with a low-lying profile that makes you wonder if this is an actual crossover or an oversized coupe.

Obviously, it’s the former, but the mere fact that there are hints of sportiness and aggression on the LF-NX Concept that are normally attributed to coupes goes to show the lengths Lexus is taking these days to completely change the way we think about the brand moving forward.

Updated 1/29/14: At the 2014 NAIAS, Lexus revealed an image of the LF-NX that looks nearly nothing like the concept that we saw earlier. This leads us to believe that this is a preview of the production model. Unfortunately, this preview version is toned down to look like a traditional Lexus, as opposed to the hot concept that we all fell in love with. You can see the preview image after the jump.
