  A concept car is a car prototype made to showcase a new vehicle's styling, technology, and overall design before production. They are often shown at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs which may or may not have a chance of being produced.

The attention generated by the Kia Provo Concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show wasn’t an accident. Neither is the Korean automaker’s follow-up concept, the CUB Concept.

Scheduled to make its debut at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show, the CUB Concept is described as a compact four-door coupe whose styling reflects the attitude of "trend-setting urban dwellers".

Although it doesn’t have the same revolutionary concept design as the Provo Concept, the CUB Concept does have a whole lot going for it, at least as far as what the lone teaser of the concept is showing us.

The most striking deal of the teaser is the headlight design of the CUB Concept, which looks a lot like what the automaker has on its Quoris luxury sedan. There’s also a distinctive strip running the length of the concept, which usually equates to a car with a sporty and racy character to it.

Not much else was divulged, but fortunately, the Seoul Motor Show is fast approaching and we’ll have all the details of the CUB Concept when they become available.

Renault Alpine A110-50 Concept

French automaker Renault has got a whole shindig planned for the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed this coming July.

In attendance will be a host of its current models, including the Clio Renaultsport 200 , the Captur crossover, and the ZOE , as well as some of its historical race cars and famous racers like Alain Prost, Susie Wolff, and Jean Ragnotti.

While that list is no doubt impressive, what really piqued our interests was the announcement of two "performance-oriented" vehicles that will make their debuts at Goodwood.

Renault has given no details on what these concepts will look like, but it did say that one of the models will be powered by pure electric, whereas the other will feature a gas engine.

That’s the most in the way of details the French automaker has given us. Lack of information notwithstanding, we expect a pair of notable concepts from Renault this coming July at Goodwood.

A year after unveiling the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Concept at last year’s Easter Moab Safari, Jeep is headed to this year’s event with the successor to the concept, dubbed the Trailhawk II Concept.

It figures that Jeep would do a second go-round of the concept, seeing as the first model eventually found its way into production .

Just like the first incarnation, the Trailhawk Concept II comes packed with plenty of design cues, including a new SRT hood, a black front grille, a matte-black roof and one-off custom roof rails. That’s before you get into the part about the concept getting dressed in a non-metallic Blood Orange hue, a far cry from the Pure White color of the first concept. From there, custom fender flares were also installed, as well as front and rear skid plates, dual rear tow hooks, modified Mopar rock rails and a set of 17-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in monstrous 35-inch Mickey Thompson off-road tires.

The interior of the Trailhawk Concept II doesn’t come with as many upgrades as the exterior, although with Mopar slush mats and a rear cargo liner, that’s probably all you need on the cabin of this bad boy.

Another Wrangler concept to be displayed at this year’s annual Easter Jeep Safari will be the Wrangler Flattop, a vehicle described as "a paradox of sorts." Though no updates have been made under the hood, all the exterior and interior changes, plus some of the most hard-core off-road updates transformed it into a real eye-catcher.

On the exterior, the concept features metallic sandstone paint with copper accents on the hood hinges, tow hooks, grille slats and headlamp surrounds, and brown accents for the bumpers, side rails, side mirrors and hood decal. There is also a custom one-piece, windowless hard top, plus the hood and bumpers were inspired by the Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition.

For the interior, Jeep opted for dark saddle Katzkin leather seats combined with copper insertions on the steering wheel spokes, vent rings and passenger grab handle.

The concept sits on aluminum five-spoke wheels wrapped in 37-inch Mickey Thompson off-road tires that transform it into the perfect car for the Safari.

For the 2013 Easter Safari, Jeep has found a solution to combine design elements from the SRT Viper with the amazing off-road capabilities of the 2013 Wrangler Rubicon . This daring combination has been made in the Wrangler Stitch - a concept car that delivers a power-to-weight ratio similar to that of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.

Tons of modifications have been made in order to reduce weight: all the interior comfort systems have been removed, the rear seats have also been removed, the front seats were taken from an SRT Viper and the doors were completely removed.

The exterior went on a diet too, as the hood is made of carbon fiber and the roll cage is made from chrome. All the weight-saving changes lead to a total weight of just 3,000 pounds.

In order to make it even more off-road capable, Jeep installed a Mopar cold-air intake, a Mopar exhaust kit, DynaTrac Pro Rock 44 axles with 4.88 gears, ARB front and rear lockers, King shocks, Tom Woods drive shafts, and new 17-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson 35-inch off-road tires.

As usual, Jeep has found a very interesting way to celebrate Easter: with an annual Easter Jeep Safari taking place in Moab, Utah. The event is already in its 47th edition and will be attended by thousands of diehard off-road enthusiasts. Jeep and Mopar will be presenting a series of concept cars specially developed for the event.

The first from the list is the Wrangler Mopar Recon. It features an authoritative gray exterior paint combined with numerous Mopar add-ons: front and rear half-door and window kits, front and rear off-road bumpers, rock rails, a canvas soft top and headlamps with LED lights. For the interior, the concept adds custom seats made from Navy blankets and Navy camouflage material.

Under the hood, the concept gets something that all Wrangler traditionalists have been craving: a nasty V-8 engine. Just how nasty? Oh, “only” a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 crate engine that delivers a total of 470 ponies to help you better tackle just about any terrain or hillside. This massive 6.4-liter engine comes mated to a five-speed automatic transmission – boo – with a set of Dana 60 front and rear axles with 4.10-to-1 guts on the inside.

Being an off-road concept, Mopar opted for Jeep Performance Parts prototype forged eight-lug beadlock wheels wrapped in 39-inch off-road tires. Also to help you take on the toughest terrain, the Wrangler Recon also features a long-arm lift kit.

Oh, how badly we want to see this nasty machine hit production. Unfortunately, the Wrangler is only becoming tamer at its ripe old age. Maybe someday…

As teased a few days ago, Renault in cooperation with Ross Lovegrove has unveiled today the official details on a new Twin’Z Concept Car. The concept features a design language inspired by nature and under the hood it features an all-electric drivetrain.

With its compact dimensions: a length of 142.79 inches and width of 67.12 inches, the new Twin’Z Concept is the perfect car for city driving. Also, thanks to its electric range of 100 miles, it becomes the perfect choice for short rides around the home.

The concept will be painted a nice shade of blue - a tribute to its natures underlying blueprints. The concept sits on a very interested set of wheels, with design also inspired by nature. We are not very sure about that green paint, but, of course, it’s another tribute to the nature that inspired the concept.

Sergio Pininfarina Tribute Concept by Pininfarina

When Pininfarina debuted the Sergio Concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show , a lot of people thought that the car would only be there as a show car.

But now, it looks like the company is doing an about-face with plans of building a limited number of models, each priced at around €3 million (roughly $3.89 million at the current exchange rates). Pininfarina CEO, Silvio Angori, made the announcement, telling Automotive News Europe that the company is "considering a very limited run of five to six units."

This latest developments comes a surprise to a lot of people considering the rather extreme design of the Sergio, which, in concept guise, won’t meet a lot of European safety standards.

But Pininfarina already has a plan to work around the car’s concept design to make it a street-legal model, including the installation of a windshield to comply with European homologation rules. "We already know how and where to modify the Sergio concept car to make it into a compliant, street-legal model," Pininfarina chief designer, Fabio Filippini, also told Automotive News Europe.

Should Pininfarina succeed in turning the Sergio Concept into a full-fledged road goer, albeit extremely limited model, there’s still that matter of price. Last we checked, €3 million don’t grow on trees and it might be a hard sell, awesome as the car is, to convince somebody to fork over that much money.

Then again, that’s exactly the amount Lamborghini charged for the Veneno hypercar. And all three models are already accounted for.

Cadillac has just released details on the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe that will be used in the 2013 Pirelli World Challenge Series where the team hopes to obtain the same success it did during the 2012 racing season. In the race the CTS-V will have to take on models from Audi, Mercedes, Aston Martin and BMW.

The CTS-V Coupe Pirelli World Challenge was tested for just two days, but Andy Pilgrim says he is pretty confident the car will do great this year. No other details have been offered on the race version, but it looks like when compared to the standard version it received a more aggressive exterior kit, with a huge rear wing that will deliver improved dynamics at high speeds.

Under the hood, the road-going model uses a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine that delivers a total of 556 horsepower and a peak torque of 551 pound-feet of torque. The race-ready model will likely undergo a little tweaking for the race.

Kia Provo Concept

Well that didn’t take long, did it?

Fresh off of wowing the crowd at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show , Kia’s Provo Concept may be headed to production faster than anybody anticipated.

Benny Oeyen, Kia’s European Vice President of Marketing and Product Planning, recently told Auto Express that the Korean automaker is seriously considering building a production model of the Provo Concept.

“The Provo is a possible niche we can venture into," Oeyen said. "Our brand is currently rational, but there’s space for a B-Coupe."

While there’s no immediate timetable for the production of the Provo, Kia’s next step in determining the concept’s production future would be to conduct market research to determine if the model will have the kind of demand that warrants a production model being built.

The automaker’s admission that it has no problem venturing into the B-Coupe market should be a big plus in the side of those wanting to see the Provo get its production green light.

Here’s our two cents on it: if Kia decides to retain the concept’s fantastic exterior while simplifying the interior to adhere to production standards, then we have no qualms about saying that it’s a car the automaker has to have out on the road.
