A concept car is a car prototype made to showcase a new vehicle’s styling, technology, and overall design before production. They are often shown at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs which may or may not have a chance of being produced.
Announced back in 2008, the Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS is now in working prototype form. Now that it is tangible, the Dutch-built machine has become the world’s first four-door "topless on demand" super car. The Rivale is powered by a 670 HP V8 that allows the Roadyacht to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 MPH.
The Savage is a celebration of form and function, the design comes from driving a car as an emotional sensation. The body architecture features a conflicting and revolutionary balance of design and emphasizes the vehicle’s "bad boy" character. The sharp aggressive angles when viewed head on are an inference of the vehicle’s raw power, and the wide muscular rear end is a menacing sight that will make pursuers question what they are doing.
If you are a fan of what Subaru has done with their latest STI then you might like this wild concept. Designed by an independent party who calls himself Grid, this STI concept is to say the least, unique. Grid did get a few things right; like the vehicle’s wide aggressive stance, boxed fenders, protruding power bulge and the combination of a World Rally Blue body sitting on gold rims.
However, the concept looks like an elephant sat on one of Subaru’s current STIs and flattened it like a pancake. Whenviewwed from the side, the wedge shaped body is too close to another great rally car to be considered an original design; the STI concept looks too much like Bertone’s original Lancia Stratos.
This STI concept does have attitude, but if Subaru would take the time, money and energy spent creating this monstrosity, and put it back into a World Rally Championship program, they would definitely sell more of their vehicles.
Volkswagen has already unveiled a Polo and a Golf inspired by their legendary GTI meet, Worthersee. Not one to be left out, the luxury arm of the VW family, Audi, brought their own customized Q5 to the show. The French automaker Citroen has launched an online application for those to want to have a little fun with the DS Concept that was revealed back at the Geneva Motor Show. Users start off with either "Paris Night" or "Ethnic" base models, and are then able to let their imaginations run wild.
The production version of the DS will be unveiled sometime in 2010; Citroen has vehicles like the Audi A3 and Alfa Romeo 149 in it sights when the DS hits showrooms. Eventually the DS3 will be joined by a few larger siblings, the DS4 and DS5.

With the soon to be merger of Chrysler and FIAT, the American Automaker will soon be ofering a host of smaller, more European vehicles here in the U.S. Another compact city car that could find the same fate is Volkswagen’s Polo.
This is the second concept from the people’s car car maker, the Polo Worthersee 09. Based on the next generation Polo, this special edition comes painted in “Flash Red” and features two black rally stripes, just like the Golf.
The concept is powered by a 1.4 Liter MPI engine that makes 86 HP. The vehicle comes with 18" alloy wheels, a free flowing sport exhaust system and black nappa leather seats with “Berry White” inserts.
The people’s car maker, Volkswagen, has just unveiled the Golf GTI Street Study at the Worthersee GTI meet. The concept is the result of a collaboration between the German automaker and a group of youthful German Volkswagen enthusiasts: Stefan Becker, 22, Mehmet Cosgun, 20, Saskia Müller, 20 and Michael Riefenberg, 19.
The GTI Street is a two-tone black and white Golf with a pair of white rally stripes running the length of the vehicle, the exterior has been modified with a new front bumper and rear spoiler. The Street Study is powered by a 2.0 Liter TFSI engine that makes an impressive 301 HP. The tuned VW comes equipped with a coilover suspension that features a hydraulic lift. The exhaust has been swapped out for a sport version terminating in two oval shaped tips. Finishing off the street edition is a set of blacked out 19 inch wheels wrapped in the lowest profile tires that I have ever seen.
If Volkswagen is trying to win the hearts of hot hatch fans everywhere with the GTI Street Study, they are off to an excellent start.

Volkswagen has just revealed the Golf GTI "Wörthersee 09," a concept car that was named for the GTI meet it debuted at. The first thing you notice is the “Firespark Metallic” finish, painting the 19 inch rims black with the glowing red lip really sets the car off.
This wild hot hatch concept is motivated by a 2.0 Liter TSI engine connected to a DSG transmission, the pair put out 210 HP. This conceptual Golf can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in only 6.9 seconds and will hit a top speed of 154 MPH.
The rear end is illuminated by a set of smoked LED taillights; and the interior the showstopper receives a pair of sport buckets and plenty of bright red trim. This is one fine looking GTI.

The concept is powered by a 3.0 TFSI V6 engine that now delivers 408 hp (up from the standard 333 hp). The sprint from 0 to 60 mph it is made in just 4,4 seconds, while top speed is limited to 155 mph.
Like the more recent Maserati Birdcage, Italian automakers have a tradition of going above and beyond when it comes to building sports prototypes, even if they are never intended to function. Pininfarina unveiled the most exotic of their concepts at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show. Built on a 512S racing chassis, powered by a high revving 550 HP V12 that can be admired through the 24 oversized holes in the engine cover. This mid-engine concept was the last in a series by the Italian automaker, the 512 featured a canopy style windshield that opened forward, forcing the occupants to exit through the large opening, like in the Lancia Stratos. Unfortunately the wheels on the Modulo concept were streamlined into the bodywork, this made it nearly impossible for the 1970s concept to turn.
