When Renault said that it was going to take a stab at running Pikes Peak in 2011 AND use a Dacia Duster to run the competition, a lot of people, shall we say, scoffed at that idea. As it turns out, Renault was actually serious about the whole thing because the first photos of the Dacia Duster Pikes Peak have gone live. It seems a little ambitious for Renault to try to compete in one of the most famous - or infamous - hill climbing competitions in the world, especially considering when they’re using their low-cost, Romanian-based brand for the whole competition. But this isn’t your ordinary Dacia Duster. While details are still limited, there are whispers going around that this particular Duster will carry a Nissan GT-R-sourced V8 engine that produces a staggering 850 horsepower. Last we checked, that’s a load of power, especially for a car that’s been stripped down to weigh just a little less than 900 kg (1,984 lbs). The car is set to compete on June 26, 2011 at Pikes Peak, Colorado and will be piloted by Jean-Philippe Dayraut. We don’t know how competitive it’s going to be against the Imprezas of the competition, but there’s plenty of power under this Duster’s hood. And if you’ve got that covered, you stand a very good chance of being competitive. .

 I just wonder on what does the Nissan GTR engine will be doing in this car?hmm. We all know that GTR has an awesome speed and I don’t think that it would fit for a 900 kg. car.

 Agreed. The speed performance of the car is quite impressive. However, for a racing prototype it doesn’t have a sporty look. I wonder on what’s the ranking of the car during the Pikes Peak Race.
 Wow! The engine performance of the car is quite impressive! Its power output is similar to a Bugatti. The decrease on its weight makes it lighter then cause to increase its speed and it seems that they have removed the speed limit of the car!
 It weighs very low and will be using the V8 engine. This will going to have an incredible speed but I’m afraid the car could not make it to handle that kind of speed with its weight. Let’s hope it will work.
 Well, knowing Renault, they won’t be going to the races without being well prepared first. It is likely that they have set up the Duster to be able to perform well in the races.
 I have read a few reviews about the Dacia Duster and it seems to be performing rather well. Though I am still skeptical if it will be able to take on rally racing.
 Hahaha! Indeed, that spoiler feels pretty off with the whole design of the car But I think that this is not the car that they will be using for the race.
