Nissan has pulled the covers off its third design concept today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Rounding out the launches of the Resonance Concept in Detroit last year and the Friend-Me concept first seen in Shanghai last April, Nissan’s new and boringly named Sports Sedan Concept has bowed in the Motor City.

Seen as more than just a design study, the Sports Sedan Concept has real potential for seeing its shapes and curves move into production, possibly in the for of the next-gen Maxima. Especially with the same cues mirrored in the other two vehicles, it’s a pretty safe bet this is the design direction Nissan is taking for its mid-decade makeover.

After giving the four-door sedan a chance to soak in our minds, it looks rather good. The sharp, dominating V-shaped grille sits between familiar fish-hook or boomerang-style headlights followed by a flowing, fluid-like motion along the sides, culminating together in a more angular rear trunk lid. A small, black strip visually cuts the C-pillars — combined with the blacked-out A-pillars — make the roof appear to be floating in mid air. The GT-R -esque, steeply-raked windshield rises to meet the steeply-angled roof right above the front passengers’ laps, then continues down and back, ending just behind the 21-inch wheels. It all works together making the car an aesthetically interesting and congruent collaboration of curves and angles.

As said before, the possibilities for the Sports Sedan Concept to see production are high, though not under that vague name. It’s likely to be the next Maxima . Nissan seems to be quite regarding details and specs of the under-body greasy bits, but some experts are reporting the venerable 3.5-liter V-6 will return, as will its current CVT powering the front wheels.

For quite some time now, rumors have been swirling around Stuttgart that Porsche would resurrect the Targa body style for the all-new, seventh-gen 911. In the past few months, these rumors have gained a little steam, as folks equipped with video cameras caught a Targa top hidden beneath a faux fabric top.

Now, the new-generation 911 Targa made its world debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show , confirming all the previous rumors. The new model represents the return to the original 1965 design, with a wraparound rear window and a removable front roof section. There’s a little difference though between this model and the original one, as the modern version’s roof segment can be opened and closed at the push of a button in just 19 seconds.

The new 911 Targa will be put on sale this summer at a starting price of $101,600 for the Targa 4 and $116,200 for the 911 Targa 4S version.

Today at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show , Mercedes unveiled the most powerful version of the new S-Class lineup: the new S600 . With a history that spans more than half a decade, the S600 became one of the most successful model in the S-Class lineup, thanks to its more powerful engine and its incredible level of equipment.

The first S600 debuted back in 1963 and was powered by a fuel-injected V-8, but the model launched today adopted a more powerful V-12 biturbo engine that sounds more suitable for a model offered exclusively with a long wheelbase and a luxurious equipment package.

Next to this powerful engine, the new S600 will also be offered with lots of safety features and additional features that are not offered in the other S-Class models.

The new Mercedes S600 will be put on sale in the spring of 2014. Prices will be announced at a later date.

About two weeks ago, Kia announced that would head to the 2014 Detroit Auto Show with a 2+2 concept car that will preview the long-rumored Kia sports car. Today the company revealed the concept’s official name and a new image of the concept.

This new concept is named the GT4 Stinger and, according to the details that Kia gave us, it will bring into focus the latest version of Kia’s signature "Tiger Nose" grille.

Along with the revised grille, the GT4 Stinger will also feature vertical LED headlights flanking the white surround of the grille, brake cooling vents, 20-inch wheels and a carbon fiber front splitter mounted below the bumper. This first image really gives us a nice look at this striking front end, and we simply cannot wait to see it.

On top of this awesome-looking nose, this concept will carry a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that delivers a total of 315 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed, close-ratio manual transmission. If this potent four-pot finds its way into a production model, then Kia will officially put Toyota Toyota , Scion and Subaru on notice to get off their rumps and add some much-needed power to the GT 86, FR-S and BR-Z triplets.

Stay tuned for more details on the concept, which Kia plans to release on January 13th, shortly before the official unveiling.

At the 2014 Detroit Auto Show , SRT added two new features to the Viper lineup: a new Stryker Green color and a new Grand Touring (GT) package.

The new Stryker Green features special green and yellow pigments and a "liquid mercury" appearance, making it the perfect color for customers looking for a unique color that helps highlight the incredible lines of the Viper .

The new GT package will add standard Nappa leather seats, five-mode Electronic Stability Control and two-mode Bilstein DampTronic Select suspension. The GT package come coated only in either this new Stryker Green hue or with the previous Venom Black. While the new FT-1 Concept car was specially designed for the new Gran Turismo 6 racing game, we have a strange feeling that it previews the new-generation Supra . In fact, Toyota announced that the concept car previews the company’s future design language, meaning that a new sports car may be right around the corner.

The new concept car is named the FT-1 and the name was explained as follows: FT stands for "Future Toyota," and the number "1" represents the ultimate. According to Toyota, the design team started to work on this new concept car about two years ago, and it’s pretty clear that it is a continuation of the FT-HS launched in 2007, with some design elements taken from the 2012 Lexus LF-LC .

The concept was designed by the Calty design team and comes just in time to celebrate the team’s 40th anniversary. It was officially unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show .

Updated 08/14/2014: Toyota unveiled a second version of the FT-1 Concept, this time featuring a graphite exterior paint and a new interior with natural leather on the seat combined with brown edges.

The 2014 Detroit Auto Show is definitely not an auto show where only major automakers exhibit their creations. Detroit is also where you will have the chance to see cool cars from smaller makers, like this Destino Concept developed by VL Automotive .

If the name sounds familiar to you, is simply because VL Automotive already displayed a Destino sedan at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. VL Automotive was founded by Gilbert Villarreal and Bob Lutz — if you didn’t notice, the "VL" name comes from the first letter in each of their last names — and the Destino was its first creation.

The VL was based on a Fisker Karma , but featured a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 engine under its hood.

What’s the difference between the Destino we saw last year and the one from this year? Well, there are quite a few. The new vehicle is a convertible model, with its luxurious interior designed by Katzkin.

With the next auto show scheduled to take place after the calendar turns to 2014, a number of automakers are already gearing up for it before the holiday break arrives.

One of these companies is Audi and to no one’s surprise, the German company has gotten the ball rolling with a preview of a crossover concept that it plans to unveil at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

Billed as the "new Audi show car," the yet-to-be-named crossover coupe concept is being touted as a preview of what we can expect from Audi moving forward, specifically as it pertains to certain visual elements in the concept that will be translated to its future lineup of sports cars .

That’s a lot take in, especially considering the "coupe -like nature" of this particular concept, particularly the certain designs that are undeniably sporty in nature. There’s a tornado line on the sides that emphasize a distinctively aggressive character. There are short overhangs and a low roof, thicker-than-usual C-pillars, aluminum underbody guards, and of course, a new set of 19-inch alloy wheels that mesh well with the somewhat-staunch and muscular look of this concept.

The interior, it appears, has a 2+2 seating configuration, although what appears to be lack of backrests on the front seats leaves us a little confused as to what Audi’s going for with this. There’s a flat-bottom steering wheel, which is a nice touch, and the full-length center console definitely adds personality to the concept.

We expect to hear more about this new crossover coupe concept when the Detroit Auto Show comes around. Until then, these teaser photos will give you a clear indication of what to expect before the concept makes its world debut.

Updated 01/10/2014: With just a few days before its official debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, the first images of Audi’s new compact crossover leaked onto the internet. Along with these images, we also got the official name of the vehicle: Allroad Shooting Brake Concept. Full details will follow next week. (Autowp)

The second model in Scion ’s new Monogram Series set to be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show is based on the recently revised tC . Just like with its FR-S brother, Scion will inject the new tC Monogram Series with lots of luxury features that will help draw higher-end buyers to the brand.

Of course, we would have preferred to see some more changes to the tC ’s exterior, but Scion decided that only the interior needed most of the extra love to "provide a great price to go head-to-head with the competition and encourage more drivers to get excited about experiencing a Scion."

The new Scion tC Monogram Series is limited to 2,500 units this year and hits dealerships starting in February 2014. Prices start from $21,400 for the six-speed manual version and $22,400 for the six-speed sequential automatic version.
